How good can you google?

google.com redirects me to google.fr, and it redirects you to google.de I guess, privileging results in our respective languages. so it's a bit pointless.

ah, but I just found out you only have to fill the "What I am googling" box :). and I can go to google.us ;)

What is missing from the search results in 1.2? ........

it's nano-????

The first and third hit deal with nano technology the second has something to do with Linux.

There's not many clues.

I'm such an idiot, it's the freaking iPod!

This is a "reverse search" game of a kind, you get the results and have to find out the search phrase. Try it here.

Gave up at the tax question

_xxx_ sounds to me like you might enjoy: http://www.thestoneunturned.com/ which a mate of mine set up. I haven't looked at it for ages but, IIRC, solving the puzzles involved being able to do some clever internet searching.

Easy up until I couldn't be bothered to think of more misspellings for 'bocelli' (2.4). Edit: Got it on the next try. Gave up on the '35.8114573' puzzle.

Yeah I got stuck on that one.

Before attempting the ones on the Stone Unturned, you should probably do the example ones on http://www.thestone.com as it will give you an idea of the way you have to think on there.

I can vouch for http://www.thestoneunturned.com/TheInstance/3R.Beekeeper.Problem.htm being an excellent puzzle.
:)

I finished it all. There are 16 puzzles. The painting one was the hardest for me.

EDIT: Nevermind, there are more!

EDIT: I'm really stuck at 2.6. This is really hard.

What? I'd say both the 'tax' and the displayed results are red herrings.
Pick a segment of text from one of the search results. Then Google for that segment, enclosed in quotes, and use the site:thesearchresult-domain.com as a qualifier.
Then you'll find the full text on that site, including the ?????? and you're done.

I gave up on the Google images thing (1.c or thereabouts).

Not for the tax question. The solution there is a Google operator/keyword and not part of the result.

afaik, it's not an operator. The tax one was a series of numbers.

Also, for the paintings, think about impressionist artists, and you'll find who you want. :D

I beat it.
Very easy if you type in the phrases in the real Google.
I only found this to be true for the first few. I had a hard time with the pictures one (finally found it from the impressionism hint here). Now I'm stuck on 1.e, which is a google finance, but I'll be damned if I can find any hint at all (other than the stock price) as to what stock it is.

Edit:
Nevermind, got it. Turns out just searching for the date, incorporated, and NASDAQ did the trick.
