How do you organise your TV shows and movie files?

Thread spam alert! Seeing as just bought a much bigger hard drive, I'll be keeping more media on my desktop machine.

Now (don't hate me ;)) I really like the way Itunes keeps my MP3's sorted. Is there an equivalent program that does this well for movie files and TV shows? So I can jump to Simpsons -> Season 18 -> Episode 4 or something of the like?

I know WMP can do it (poorly) but I was hoping there are some others out there that are good all-round "media managers".

Cheers

I have external Hard Drives each dedicated to either TV or Movies. I also have more on my internal Hard Drives in directories.

Zoom Player has a media center thingy but I've never looked into it. I've been meaning to.

Edit: Well I finally figured out that Zoom Player media center thingy. It is more convenient to be able to access all the stuff spanning several hard drives on one screen instead of having to check each hard drive one by one until you find what you want. Although I suppose Vista's search is just as convenient.

Yeah. I got a "stuff to watch" directory where I keep TV shows in directories by their name, sub-divided by season. Then I have a "movies" folder, a "music" folder, and an "anime" folder with subdivisions by name/season/album/whatever under that.

Keeps it tidy and all makes sense for me. "stuff to watch" is sort of my dump all.

But Brit, Digi....manual renaming is so 2003 :p

I'll check the Zoom feature... though last time I tried the software player itself it ran HD movies poorly, chugging, where WMP ran them smoothly. Maybe I can use the organisation piece without the player itself.

Cheers.

Hmm, that's weird. You can try changing video renderers if you have that problem again. And set the player's priority to high. There's a beta linked in the forum that adds EVR video renderer for Vista. I love Zoom Player it has loads of options.

Why the complications? I just keep folders aptly names, such 'Movies' or 'TV Shows'. In these folders sits another folder for each appropriate show or movie. For shows, there is then another subfolder in each for individual seasons.

'TV Shows->Life->Season 1' for instance.

I have seen some really strange and 'challenged' people who seem to just dump all of their movie files into a single directory. I don't like that, I prefer an organised structure. Screw programs
