How do you have your game console setup? Is it in the horizontal position? Did you flip it sideways to go vertical? Is it communicating while inverted? Is it being a hotshot doing a standing wheelie?

What's the perceived pros and cons of each position?

Currently I have the PS4P horizontally, I had it vertically for a while, but it seemed to make more noise then, ie the fan seemed to make more noise more often.

I (ignorantly) assume disc players were designed for horizontal play so I stick with that.

This gen my Xbox has been all horizontal. Last gen my Xbox was all vertical. Was mainly due small TV/large entertainment center last gen & large TV/small entertainment center this gen. Plus I don't think this gen the console aesthetics were really designed for vertical placement anyway.

The cat joke never gets old.

We need to embrace it with a custom t-shirt.

Needs more than one option. Vertical on desk where takes up less room. Horizontal in living room where less conspicuous. And currently that's PS3 downstairs as movie player and PS4 upstairs. Would naturally have it horizontal though for optical disk - surely they're designed that way for gravity to hold them in place?

Currently horizontal but I've placed consoles vertically in the past.

I usually go for horizontal on my setups. The only time I set a console vertical was with the Xbox 360 because that was the only way I could get the disc tray to open. Without going on a rant about the amount of times I had to replace my Xbox 360 (4 times), all of them at one point or another had a problem with a struck disc tray. Thank God for slot-loading.

I heard one of the guys from Digital Foundry say that they prefer to mount a console on its side for ventilation. Is there any truth to that?

Except for my PS1 - which I had to place vertically or upside down to avoid it overheating - I've placed every console horizontally because I've always thought discs or the disc drive would become damaged. Am I being daft?
