We’re overwhelmed with gratitude for the response to Hogwarts Legacy from fans around the globe. The team is working hard to deliver the best possible experience on all platforms and we need more time to do this. Hogwarts Legacy will launch for PS4 and Xbox One May 5, 2023.

So what kind of game is this? CP2077/GTA5/RRD2/Witcher3 type ish kinda?

I have no relationship with Harry Potter, I was to old and I have no kids so :)

Ignoring the controversy around the game, how valid are Yahtzee’s takes on the gameplay? Does a fondness for the books/movies paper over some cracks?

DO we know if it works? In other news, Returnal also got a patch today aimed to reduce stuttering in RT mode.

New patch is out, with a huge list of updates, spanning everything from memory to shaders to ray tracing to upscalers, most prominent ones:
  • Resolved memory leak with object state
  • Added general streaming optimization and updates
  • Resolved hitches happening multiple times a frame
  • Resolved poor performance occurring when certain trees are on-screen while Ray-Tracing is enabled
  • Resolved general proxy and LOD updates/optimizations
  • Improved minimum pool sizes to prevent textures from getting too blurry
  • Shader type compilation optimization
  • Shader compilation performance updates and functionality enhancements
  • Update DLSS to 3.1.2
  • Updated to FSR 2.2
  • Updated to XeSS 1.1
  • Fixed issue with RTAO and decals being black
  • Adjusted RT lighting and shadows
  • Resolved Ray tracing making odd or extremely bright visual effects on affected textures in certain areas: HL-9198
  • Resolved Ray Tracing shadows creating a hitch when moving in a specific area of Hogsmeade at night

Makes me wonder whether the QA already reported the issues and management simply thinks the game is already good enough for release, and will patch later. Or QA didn't catch the issue, thus gamers became QA testers.

So how's the game on last-gen consoles, now that it's released for them?

Thats quite a patch. I'd love to see the game re-looked at with this but I'm afraid as with all these games that get fixed after launch they are now branded with the "another shitty PC port" label that's going to stick.

Hogwarts native 4K Ultra RT settings benchmarks using the latest patch:

4090: 48 fps
4080: 37 fps
3090: 30 fps
7900XTX: 24 fps
2080Ti: 19 fps
6900XT: 15 fps

I wish review sites would actually test this and tell us if and how the patch has improved things rather than just reading the patch notes back to us. It's cool to know the patch is there of course, but I want to know if it lives up to it's claims.

Polished game with much content but finished only because I paid full price. If you are not fan of universum dont recomand as its little snoozefest. Kudos for 40fps mode.

Is this uncapped like Spider-man with lowered VRR window trick or capped at 40fps?
