Help I need to stop biting my nails!

Ok,

so i've bitten my nails for a long time as long as I remember. But recently it's been getting to me. I hate the fact that I do it and it's a disgusting habit (sure there are worse but anyways). I was just wondering for those of you who have bitten your nails and been able to stop it, how did you go about doing it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Me and my nails will thank you :D

Does this actually work? I've had people tell me about it before. One of my friends actually did it, he used that nail polish crap (can't remember the name). But it didn't work.

Buy nail cutters to trim them effectively - remove the need
Buy the bad taste liquid from chemist - punish the act
Get a fidget toy (stress ball / puzzle) - transfer the nervous habit
Learn an anti stress technique - pushing against walls, soft mantra slow breathing etc - calm the body

Ok so I bet at least one person makes fun of me for watching the show but I really don't give a ****. Anyways in a Queer Eye episode they mentioned this stuff.

Hey, I love Queer Eye for the Straight Guy! I learn new things from every episode, or at least new ways of looking at things I'd never paid attention to before.

I haven't been catching it enough lately, I'll wait for the DVDs to come out.

Do you have an Aloe plant?

Break one of the leaves in half and put the juice on your fingers. That stuff is aweful and non toxic.

EEEWWW! Why do people bite their nails?
I'd rather stick a guy's dork in my mouth.

I'm even afraid of touching door handles, in toilets I wait until someone is about to open the door, during the time I pretend to keep myself occupied so no one suspects a thing.

Ok, really, it is quite useful they tend to highlight things you just wouldn't think of otherwise.

Since I posted the topic I'm happy to say that nail polish remover and gum are my new best friends. Let's hope I can keep it up.

yeah I have a real bad nailbiting problem, I keep telling myself that I'm going to stop the next time they grow out...

Well, I've never had that problem: I don't have finger nails! On a related story, I could tell how useful finger nails may be in modern life...
