help 3 vid cards

i finally got my machine put together; however, i tried my x1650 iceq (no pci-e power connector) and no signal at post. my 8800gt sc (soon to be flashed to stock clocks bios) does have signal. haven't posted with dvi cable connected to the gold dvi ports on my 4850 iceq4 1GB.

my 8800 gt is in the top blue slot.

x1650gt iceq is in the higher of the 2 black slots.

hd4850 iceq4 1GB is in the bottom blue slot.

mb is foxconn a79a-s, which is the 790fx/sb750 combo.

everything was seated firmly in pci-e slots and screws were secured.

problem is in red. info is in black.

Hmm, three different video cards from two different vendors all in the same machine? What makes you think this is a wise idea? You know you won't get any improvement in IQ or performance just by randomly stuffing more and more varied graphics cards into your PC?

of course you wont get a signal at post pci-e slots have priority, with all slots full only the top blue will have output untill windows is loaded

ps: you know when you fill more than two slots they switch to x8 mode

what you really need to do is this :

raise you hands in the air
and slowly step away from the computer
before someone gets hurt.....

I have one for old games, one for new games and one as my ppu.

So now that windows has loaded I'll unplug the dvi cable from my ppu and plug it into the others and see if they're good to go.

Yes, i knew that they'll operate only at 8x mode, but remember that's equivalent to 16x mode 1st gen pci-e which is nothing to scoff at lol.

Thanks for the replies=]

well if the 8800gt is the ppu put it in the black slot + two ati cards in the blue slots
4850 top blue slot
x1650 bottom blue slot

ps: what old games work with a 1650 and not a 4850 as they use the same drivers i can imagine them to have the same compatability problems

a voodoo3 would be better for old games

heres one $20 buy it now price

OK, I need some more help asap.

last night I had assumed everything was fine, but this morning I installed the 4850's drivers and finally plugged the dvi cable in, expecting it to work in win vista, but no signal.

The only thing that gives a signal is my 8800gt.

What the hell do I do?

This is driving me insane.

1 remove geforce card *make sure 4850 is in top blue slot
2 uninstall nvidia drivers
3 uninstall ati drivers
4 use a driver cleaner
5 reboot
6 install ati drivers
7 install geforce card *black slot
8 install physx drivers

Need help.

I followed davros' advice but this once liked piece of shit still won't recognize all three video cards, and it's pissing me off, thru no fault of anyone here, but I do need some help; I've been to hardocp and no one has been of any use there, and this jank is driving me INSANE!

Maybe your mobo or PSU just weren't designed to handle the strain you're asking when attempting to run 3 high-draw devices on the PEG slots simultaneously?

Oh yeah, and update your mobo BIOS if you haven't done so yet.

Buy a cConsole, its seems to be a better fit for you.

Please be more mature than this. How would you feel if you needed help with something and someone told you to give up and move on to something else and imply you were too dumb to figure it out.

I applaud 2008IIU for not lashing out at the comments directed at him here.

If anyone has any further suggestions, be sure to let me know=]

have you tried with just the 4850 in ?

1. remove all drivers
2. use a driver cleaner
3. shut down
4. remove all cards except the 4850 in top blue slot
5. switch on install ati drivers

working so far ?
if so
shut down put in 1650 + switch on
can your pc see it does? it work

report back when youve got this far

The nvidia drivers have been uninstalled.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance=]

So you know you can't have display drivers from different vendors loaded simultaneously in Vista, right?

OK, made some progress... on my very own. But your help will still be appreciated...

the x1650gt iceq IS now recognized as well as the 4850 1GB iceQ4. I have the 4850 in the very top slot, which is blue. I have the 1650 in the 2nd pci-e x16 slot which is dark brown. The 8800 GT is in the very bottom slot which is blue. I set the bios to disable instead of auto for gfx 1 dual slot config, while i have gfx 2 dual slot config still set to auto.

Perhaps moving the 1650 down a slot to the lower of the 2 dark brown slots, and moving the 8800 gt to the higher of the 2 dark brown slots, then set what? or should I do something else?

What would "peer to peer" be? it's set to disabled by default; I've'nt messed with it.
