Good Splitscreen Games

So I don't know if you've ever gone through this, but this is how it used to be when you got a new game:

Me: Hey man, I just got the new Timesplitters. Come over, and we'll play it.
Friends: OK! (Fun commences.)

This is how it goes now:

Me: Hey man, I just got Fear 2 for cheap. We should play it online.
Friend 1: I don't have a PS3; I have a 360.
Friend 2: I just bought a bunch of DLC for Fallout 3 and don't have money.
Friend 3: I just bought Riddick and don't have money.
Me: Fine. (Commence playing with not my friends)

I'm guessing there are more than a few of us that like to play games with friends, but not all our friends have the same console or are willing to buy the same game. Then there are even a few weirdos who actually like seeing friends face-to-face. Online is cool and all, but right now, my friends and I still play Gamecube or Wii games when we get together. So what are some good games for PS3 or 360 that have local 4-person multiplayer? Because nothing I've looked at does except Halo 3.

I'm personally really disappointed this the not always presence of slipscreen in games, 'cause my wife play games and we're pleased to play slipscreen games, and also slipscreen online games.
I think we probably thinking to made a petition for this! ;)

So on 360 games I'm known who have at least dual(more indicated) slipscreen offline and online:
Halo 3 (4 slipscreen for online), Halo 3:ODST, Gears 1&2.

Games who got slipscreen for offline:
Forza 1&2, Bordeland, COD:MW2 (Spec Ops)

Games who got dual co-op offline and online on the same screen:
Sacred 2, Viva Pinata 2( but is more made to play with your kids so second have far least gameplay action).

Madden and NBA games and wrestling games if you are into that. I know a lot of people love the Marvel games. I thought COD4 had 4 player local as well. On XBLA Age of Booty is a great 4 player game, ditto Geometry Wars. If you hunt around there are quite a few, maybe you could narrow it down to type of game you are looking for?

COD 4 is four slipscreen offline on the online Map, so not very a great fun feature… a four slipscreen online is better.
And also FIFA and PES have dual on screen game.

We're buying Gravity Crash on PS3 this Tuesday which has four player splitscreen. Trine was bought for being 3 player. We're an easy sell! PSN titles seem to cater to local play better than disc games which are mostly online multiplayer.

That Co-optimus website is quite depressing when you look at how few coop local player games there are. :(

7. PS3 uses 7 channels for controllers and remaining channel is used for better interaction between them or something.

I played the first GeOW a lot in splitscreen mode with my buddy...was a great experience!

EDIT:
I think nobody mentioned MotorStorm 2 yet...if I remember correctly, it has 4-player (I just tried 2 player with my buddy) splitscreen support (and by the way, this is my absolute favorite racing game this gen)!
And I think that UT3 supports splitscreen (after the Titan pack, even on PS3)

Resident Evil 5 has great online AND offline coop. Resistance 1 has also great splitscreen (no online though). Same goes for Unreal 3

DON'T BUY GRAVITY CRASH!!!

Their advertisements are very misleading. "3 multiplayer modes and 12 maps" actually boils down to one multiplayer mode (competitive vs.) with three map types (deathmatch, collect-the-crystals, and race) and 4 dull maps for each type. There are no powerups, boosts, or tricks you can pull. You don't even have any secondary weapons. You just fly about your own business and occassionally shoot at a nearby other player when they happen to wander nearby.

Most importantly, the level editor, whiuch looks pretty good, is only for single player! When exactly did they tell the public this? So where you could add upgrades, hazards, switches driving changeable maps etc., and make a really fun multiplayer experience, the game is utterly gimped and dull as old ditch-water.

Just Add Water utterly missed the trick here (like most game developers ) and produced a turkey that wasn't listed accurately and would never have been bought if it was. Grrrr!

A friend of mine said Army of Two was online only...but the review says it has split screen, so there you go. Does MW2 have offline MP?

True I guess, although some games are pretty fun competitive local multiplayer games that are not listed here.

I do quite like Motorstorm 2 a lot, although 2 player split-screen is a much better experience than four player split-screen in this one. Still it's awesome that it's in there. Resistance 1 was a pretty good 2 player co-op experience too that can now be had cheap - I loved it's campaign, one of the few fps games I finished.

The original poster said 4 player local co-op:

So what are some good games for PS3 or 360 that have local 4-person multiplayer?

If 2 player split screen is now the requirement, why has no one mentioned Borderlands?

=)

Cheers

It is mentioned in this thread. But I really didn´t like the game, makes me wish steam had some way to get money back.
