Glut of PS3 games in Q3/4?

If things stand put the PS3 will be facing a 150 dollar cheaper HD console with a better game line up in the 360 and the Wii which is kicking everyones butt.

This year they will be facing a $150 cheaper HD console, with a overhyped game called Halo 3, which has a $50 million marketing campaign.

I personally don't find Halo that great a game. However, if a game was simply overhyped you think that would have been discovered by the market before the third interation.

I don't think a game that used as a marketing tool to sell another game is totally dependent on a $50 million marketing campaign.

Devs acceptance of the PS3 will dependent on how well it sells general titles not how well it sells titles like KZ2, GT5, HS or MGS4. Those are titles with huge budgets and enormous hype like a Halo3 or Gears of Wars. I think devs are more impressed on how Lost Planet and similar titles sold on the 360.

PS3's strongest game for this year just got delayed until next year. 2008 is PS3's year imo.

I'd say this is PS3's strongest game in Japan. Don't think it'll be anywhere near that big in the West.

If people prefer to pay $499 Ps3 with a very limited library instead of $349 for a 360 with a great library, once Ps3 actually have games to compete 360 will most likely just die.

It will be intersting to see how the PS3 moves this winter. Looking at EU/US/Japan sales here at my desk, it has a lot of work to do in the US, but EU sure does love their Sony. I'd say month to month sales worldwide, are about even between the Xbox and PS3 with the Wii dominating over all.

Back to the thread subject at hand though, yes, there are going to be a lot of PS3 titles coming out in Q3/Q4 wich is cool, and should help sales.

Well, I still can't help but think that there must be quite a few PS supporters like me, that haven't yet bought one, but are going to in the near future, simply because until now,

- the software hasn't been very attractive enough
- the price is too expensive
- the ps2 is still far too strong (still playing Final Fantasy XII and others)
- *no HD tv yet

If my PS2 wouldn't be used as much and the software would be more attractive, I wouldn't mind the price that much - yet because the PS2 is still being enjoyed and the PS3 software isn't very attractive yet, I just rather wait for another few months...

Sadly, a much cheaper Xbox360 isn't more attractive either, simply because I'm not really interested in the games for that platform. No price advantage is going to change that [for me]...

Edit: No HD yet! :( (thanks tuna)

I feel the almost the same way, except

- I don't have a HDTV yet.

wow, considering "AAA" means 9+ scores from review sites, those are pretty high standards and you're letting reviewers decide which games you pick up right away? a lot of my favorite games of all time got 8's from review sites.

Not strictly based on reviews, just games that are below my "must-buy" but above my rent only list. There are average games that I have got on day one due to being the genre that I'm most interested in. Some games I regret buying on Day one would include Rumble Roses XX and Lost Planet, others that don't rate as high but I love include Earth Defense Force and DOA4.

Having a budget for entertainment really bites sometimes:cry:
Games currently preordered include Bioshock CE, Halo Legendary and Blue Dragon. I will probably not preorder any other games for this year. Mass Effect will not make my list unfortunately (never finished KOTOR or Jade Empire).

Heavenly Sword and Ninja Gaiden Sigma (even though I've played through both NG and NGB) would be the one games I'm dying to have a PS3 for. Lair and RNC don't appeal to me and I'd have to wait and see with Uncharted.

I have seen a few articles across the web on the number of games due out on the PS3 later this year (November in particular is crazy).

Looking at this list I can see about 20 games that I would consider picking up but I am unlikely to be able to afford more than 3 or 4, this is great for me and many other gamers, I will pick up some AAA titles immediately and a few more when things go quiet again but given the relatively poor state of PS3 sales to date will this result in a massacre for the publishers or do you think that holiday PS3 sales will be sufficient to pull things back from the brink?

good thread, here arethe PS3 big titles coming out this year and next year. Note that some of them are not exclusive.
