Since there was some discussion on this subject the other day I figured I'd post this.

The video game industry is growing in popularity among all age groups and both genders. The average age of a gamer is 30, and 19 percent of gamers are older than 50. Men currently dominate the industry; however, the gap is closing, with approximately 55 percent of players being male and approximately 43 percent female.

Wait, almost 1/5 of gamers are over 50? Maybe over 30 but 50?

Maybe in 10-15 years.

I wonder if things like solitaire and freecell is included if it is I can see 50+ being counted.

I have noticed it's a lot more girl playing counterstrike lately it seems its a girl on every server I play on now, and alot of them are better then I am

You'd be surprised about the older folks picking up gaming. Especially MMOs. Take a look at some of the get-togethers... such as Mythic's DAOC Roundtable conferences. You'll see a ton of "older" folks in the audience.

Oh, and as for "gamer's specs"... I wear mine all the time. The anti-glare coating is nice.
