(G4TV) Brand New 60FPS MGS4 Trailer from BlimBlim(It will shock you)

It's not a trailer really, it's basically one of the ingame cinematics of MGS4 presented virtually unedited and full length.

A real trailer would have cuts to different parts of the game/story. This is one continuous scene they are presenting. That's why it does get to feel a bit boring especially if viewed tens of times like I've done :)

Why Kojima wanted to present it like this, instead of a traditional cinematic trailer? Don't know, but I'm glad he did, this gives a better opportunity to appreciate the details of the game engine and what it is capable of.

I can't remember it so well, but did MGS2 and MGS3 have more "cinematic" trailers when they were first shown?

Scratch that, Looks like he just messed up on making the audio and video match. Its about a 1-2 second delay depending on how long you play the video. A common error when recording.

My guess would be G4 is broadcast in HD and this guy just happened to have a DVR which can rip to the PC.

I believe the FIRST trailers (or you can consider them teasers) where along the same lines of the video for MGS4. Little information, gets the fans riled up, talking and speculating. What you have to realize is that the MGS community likes to speculate...alot. What Kojima does is plant a seed and lets it grow...

So...essentially...calling this video a trailer would be wrong..like you said. Its more along the lines of a teaser.

As fantastic as it looked graphically that was possibly one of the most boring game trailers I've ever seen.
I found it quite funny. Kojima always made very ironic traliers in the past, and this one was even better. Obviously it didn't show much in terms of what the game is like, but it was definately entertaining. Maybe you need to follow the dialogue to fully appreciate, the first time i watched it i didn't really "get it", hten i watched it again and the things Otacon says are just funny :D

The trailer is simply stunning. I am surprised they're able to achieve that level of visual quality and fluid animation this early in the next-gen cycle, and with beta hardware!

Future looks very, very bright.

I showed my father the trailer yesterday (off my HDTV) and he said the biggest thing he pulled out of the trailer was not only the visuals but the fluid motion of the soldiers and snake. He liked how they all bobbed up in down in a natural way while walking. I'm also impressed with the Motion Capture.

to be fair ,it has chances to happen when watching and re-watching 25 times trough all the versions we had since tgs....

It's just a movie, not gameplay.

It's a realtime movie on a devkit with 75% CPU, 78% GPU, 5% CPU-GPU bandwidth... then you can implement gameplay with 25% increase in CPU, 22% increase in GPU, and 95% increase in FlexIO, on a real PS3 :p

It was not JUST a movie. It's a cutscene rendered in real-time, with quality similar to AAA CG game cutscenes (IMO), using elements that will most likely found in the real game. There's no "JUST" about this movie.

What is it that you don't believe? That it will render with that kind of quality, or that the animations won't go as fluid? As to the latter, I agree that some elements can't be judged by a trailer based on mocap, but I'll be dammed if the game won't render as beautifully as it did in this movie. Most of these cinematography tricks Kojima used when rendering this scenes, may very well be used during the game. I personally have a lot of faith in him when he says that the game WILL look like that.

The game is still probably more then a year away, so I guess we'll only see more solid results many months from now, but I see no reason why gamers shouldn't be excited with the prospect of next-gen games looking anywhere near as good as shown on this movie.

Don't expect any logical answer out of him. We've argued this very subject since TGS and yet he still comes in here with a single line reply that's bordering on trolling. He asked a few valid question in another thread in which I took a lot of time responding in a long reply and the best he added to the topic was "it's a gimmick".

I really think people should pay less attention to questions like these, especially when these have already been discussed. Some members just don't want to be convinced and will just make lives difficult by responding in a trollish manner.

It is still just a highly orchestrated movie. There is no AI, physics, or anything else going on besides graphics in that movie.

Wasn't just a movie? I mean really, where is anyone playing this 'not just a movie'?

Because we all know differing opinion = troll. The logic here is that no matter how much I type you will still believe what you want to believe. No matter how much logic is present in the reply.

Now you're really just trolling. How can you say there was no physics going on in the trailer? Did you see the explosions? Did you see the soldier get hurled in the air by one of them early on? Did you see the way the vehicles and other particles behaved? I'm not gonna feed this behavior any further, but you are clearly trying to stir the pot with these remarks. Especially since you do very little to support your claims. Matter of fact, it seems you have little prior knowledge of the series, and apparently haven't watched any of the good-quality trailers recently uploaded. Some have been issued bans for doing this very thing recently. It's not an issue of differing opinion. It's an issue of making unsubstantiated and outlandish claims to get a rise of a certain group on the forum. PEACE.
