Futuremark lied! So dont trust it.

I dig NV News....and I like reading y'alls posts over there. It's a little looser then it is here. Plus they let me put a huge ATi avatar over my name.(I'm a proud faanbooy)

In my opinion Futuremark has proven to the gaming community why we need synthetic benchmarks. No other vendors have done anything to make sure their benchmarks are fair.

Nvidia, ATI, and others can cheat at any game benchmark, but we know if they cut corners in 3DMark03 they will be caught.

It is nice to know that a 5900 it will perform at 75.9% of the benchmarked speed and a 9800 will perform at 98.1% of the stated benchmark speed.

Keep up the good work FutureMark... :p

Both ATI and Nvidia were caught but I am impressed with ATI's attitude.

Nvidia's attitude is very unprofessional and almost childish. I don't know what it is with them, but they are killing themselves with a thousand cuts. I think heads should roll in their PR department.

Yikes, Tag! And I thought I was being a bit short with inane statements lately. :p

My general philosophical outlook: perhaps someone not knowing or understanding something is not the most productive attribute to treat with contempt...I suggest trying to focus on dishonesty and a demonstrated unwillingness to understand when your contempt reservoir is overflowing due to someone's statements.

But Tag's (unedited :p) post did provide some vicarious relief, I admit.

I think NVNews is a fansite, but not a flaming one. Their news is fairly slanted, though.

Lately they appear to have cut out much of the non-NVIDIA news; if you visited there for all GFX news then you wouldn't know that 9600 even existed or that the 256MB 9800 is out. IMO, this is not a bad thing - I'd far rather fansites offered fan news rather than all news that often looks stilted.

So this is the official B3D attitude to n00b questions? Shame on you, guys & gals.

For sure Jerry didn't put it the best possible way, but if you decipher his language the original question/accusation has some merit to it.

And I'm not going to comment on whether dear Tags compares to the hot grits of Natalie Portman. You folks be the dirty old men all you like

True, but I thought they covered the 3DM03 in a manner slightly slanted in nVidia's favor. Again, not that big a deal, I kind of expect it, and I think their reviews are pretty good.

The way I read NVNews :

1) They started as a really good fan site. and there is such a thing as a good fansite... like a Ferrari club, for instance)

2) Then they started covering and reviewing non-NVIDIA hardware. Even gave some of these non-NVIDIA hardware really good thumbs up reviews.

3) Then they reverted back to purely NVIDIA site stuff (news or reviews).

Me thinks NVIDIA weren't too happy with (2), told NVNews (with perhaps a slight hint of a "threat"... and it should be pretty easy to guess what such a threat would be) and NVNews has now gone to (3).

My very personal opinion of course and always possibly not true at all.
