I still can't believe that the Aussies took it to extra time. We had so much of the play but just didn't finish them off.

I must say that the Aussie Prime Minister looked awfully pissed off to be presenting the trophy to England!

I was devastated when Elton Flately missed those few penalty kicks. I'm amazed he had the confidence to kick any after that.

At the end of the first half of extra time England have taken the lead again.
In the second half Australia draw level again.
With a minute or so of extra time left, England get a drop goal.

I think that is about accurate!

I am not generally much of a sports follower but this was a pretty exciting match.

The last drop goal (that won the game) was actually kicked 20 seconds from the end of the extra time period. If it hadn't gone over the posts, they would have been into sudden death.

Best match of any sport I've seen in years, to be sure. Congratulations England, you deserved the win. I don't think any grand final could be scripted better. Australia ended up the loser, but the team did us very proud indeed.

I didn't really catch the medal stuff, but apparently the person handing out the medals was the head of the IRB (an Irish gent), seems a few people aren't too happy with his performance. There's quite a bit of negativity in the Aussie press in how our PM handled the defeat, but again I missed that.

damn I'm an aussie and didn't even realise it had been played this weekend! (never been a fan of rugby)

so I voted for Australia immediately then reading on found out they had lost anyway
