Dual Graphics Cards Utilizing Dual Core Processors

Ok,, I lurk these forums because I like to think someday I might actually learn something and you all seem to get the right slant on "up and comming" hardware. As it stands now I only understand about half of the content of the posts here if that. I like the way you all disect other website hardware reviews and sometimes each other. :devilish: Sorry,, I probably only had to only ask the question so here it is.
Is there any merit to the idea of allowing the Dual Graphics Card solutions by ATI and NV, to actually access one each of the cores on the dualcore processor? One card, one core. What kind of chipset tweaking would it take to acheive this? Major overhaul, or just a small addition?

That would probably be a bad idea since the rendering thread will be running on just one core. The card connected to the other core would sit idle on most scenarios.

Might make sense with AFR, but not so much with other modes.
It would also require changes in the OS, and the applications.
