Does SM 3.0 Far Cry use true displacement mapping?

I think Tony Tamasi said it uses virtual displacement mapping in a TR interview but even if it uses virtual DM it can still use true DM on other parts.

Its parralex mapping I believe which isn't true Displacement mapping. True displacement mapping generally means all the surfaces are tesslated to sub pixel triangles which you ain't gonna see for a while.

what do we call moving vertices according to a height/displacement map? ;)

Heightmap :p its sub-pixel so its not true displacement map.

no current hardware can do true displacement mapping with enough speed to be useful in a real game
