i haven't read the link you provided.
but i know that MS's new game Combat Flight Simulator 3 automatically updates to DX 8.2 when installed.

And many people are reporting problems with AA using this.
The errors are not confined to any brand of card, but most users having problems (not AA only but with the DX 8.2) are the ones with Radeons.

oops.. i just checked back where i got this info from.. which i read about a few days ago.. and it seems when the first AA problems were showing up alot of people thought it was from DX 8.2, most have found it to be a problem in that game only.

As I've stated in the warp2search discussion (I belive this is where it first got "public") the update ONLY concerns DirectPlay
those people who claim to get massive fps improvements and improved IQ or those who claim it breaks FSAA must have their heads up their arses
