Demon's Souls Remake [PS5]

But that's the best part
Lol. I think if you’re awesome at the mechanics it’s great. But if you die all the time, exploring just makes it all the more gruelling lol. But yea I agree discovery is an important element

I'm the kind of person that will play everything on hard mode .
I think it's from games costing so much over here that when I was a kid I had to make them last.

There's no shame in playing them on normal or easy. At least that's the line all of us old fockers tell ourselves as our reactions are shot.

Yea, I still try to do the hard mode stuff. But only if I've already finished the game and I want to play it again. It's definitely a hallmark of a well made game if you have multiple play throughs at various difficulties. I don't think hard mode is necessarily a sign that our reactions are shot ;)

Just whether we love it enough to want to go through the game again from the start with a harder go at it.

I increasingly play games at "for the story" mode because I like the mechanics but I can't be asked to scavenge for 20 minutes to find 3 bullets or slash some enemy fifty times instead of ten. Making everything slower does not add to my enjoyment of the game. :nope: For those who feel like a game is their ultimate challenge, good for you. As you get older - and your hand/eye coordination dips - I would rather spend time with my family. This is why video games can be awesome, they can adapt to what you what them to do.

Seems like the only differences between perf and res modes will be just that.
I think the 30fps mode has all the bells and whistles included as well; RT looks like a definite for 30fps. IIRC DF couldn't find evidence of it in the 60fps demo

Improving the res from 1440 to 2160p will need 125% more GPU while the framerate will be 'only' divided by 2. I don't see how they are going to add more effects on top of that. I think DF missed the ray traced shadows in the demo we saw, or they weren't sure because of lack of conclusive proof. Particularly to find rt shadows. It's easier to find ray traced reflections on shiny surfaces.

My conclusive proof about RT shadows? it's @London Geezer's statement.

lol.

Well I think 60fps with RT is pretty difficult to resolve, but 30fps is the winner here. They have a lot of options to render to 4K and additionally buy themselves a lot of extra rendering time by going to 33ms. It doesn't need to be a native 4K presentation.

I was quite surprised that no one seemed to have picked up on the obvious character shadow, constantly on the floor but also more obvious in other parts of the video.

OR I’m completely wrong [emoji23]

We saw a 60 fps native 4k games with RT reflection GT7 on PS5. We need to wait to know if they use raytracing for shadows and ambient occlusion.

Yea if you’re referring to the GT7 extended demo released a while back, it would appear so far that it’s only visible for replays and non gaming cutscenes. I didn’t manage to actually catch a glimpse of those same reflections during the actual driving footage.

I think GT7 isn't really up there with DS either in the graphics department. It's probably 'easier' to implement RT in a racing game too.

I find it's like sport or training. Over decades of playing games on the hardest setting it's not that challenging for me.

Obviously there's no shame in playing something on easy, it's your money and your time but a Souls game is a game designed for people that like a challenge.

So if you like Souls games you like the exploring and the challenge of figuring things out, it's the "soul" of the game.
