Could Dreamcast et al handle this/that game/effect? *DC tech retrospective *spawn

That video doesn't even cover some of the prettier areas when the lighting looks the most visible. It's really impressive stuff, up to 16 lights and bump mapped. His port also uses those extra stages that has more geometry than what the original N64 stages had. I know there's limitations to dc version of BM but it be interesting to see it on an animated character.

Re3 is the code DC is based off. Basically reversed engineered gta3 from the PC version. It also has some PS2 vu code in it.
In which level is this? i want to check it on my DC!! If you have the number of the level, that would awesome!

In fact the game was in developement for the Dreamcast :)

Just wanted to point that this was the first screenshot on this very thread almost 11 years ago! I mean, 11 years have passed since we gathered here to dream with the ports of games that should have been released on DC but market denied to us...And yes, we still don´t have Soul Reaver 2 of VF 4 on DC (i really thought at least that SR 2 beta Nixxes did would leak within the last decade :(), but i´ve never thought, not even on my wildest dreams we would get GTA 3 and VC native ported! Also not even Doom 64 with Normal Mapping and Vertex lighting...And even 5 years ago all the Atomiswave stuff...Dindt even thought about those and yet here we are!! Looks like the last 10 years have been the best for DC since it´s demise!!

Now i just want to ask you guys:

Which game do you think will be the next lost gem to find it´s way to the DC: Simpsons Hit and Run? Max Payne? SR 2? VF 4? Pro Skater 3? or Naomi gems which dindt make it to DC?

If there is a legal decompiled version of those games or free source code it could be possible otherwise no one is going to touch leaked copyrighted material...

I heard there is a team working on Simpsons Hit and Run port, which is decompiled. Or may be am i crazy? Lol
We need facts here. The existence of a port of this game would not have a causal link to your mental state. Though now that you believe that a port may be in the works, the absence of it's existence might have an effect.

SURPRIIIIIIISE!!! The beta release of our Grand Theft Auto Vice City port to the Sega Dreamcast is finally here! Here's an actual hardware capture of raising some hell in the beautiful streets of Miami taken straight from my DC to celebrate!

We've now added graphics settings for 2xFSAA to give it a less jagged, more smooth look and have added a video mode for rendering to a 24bpp framebuffer, which adds extra depth and vividness to the colors!

While we still have plenty of work to do regarding features, assets, and performance, I am extremely proud of our team after what we've accomplished within just a few short months with this port that, for the last two decades, was considered literally impossible for the console to handle. It has been an absolute honor and privilege to work beside you crazy and talented bastards!

I also want to thank the Sega Dreamcast and Grand Theft Auto communities for rallying around this cause and coming together to help us test and debug this release along with the previous GTA3 release over the last several months. Your support and diligent work has been vital for ensuring that the games have been fully playable on the DC, and your constant support and feedback has been an inspiration to the team. We couldn't have done it without you!

For instructions on how to convert your (LEGALLY EFFING PURCHASED) PC versions of GTAVC into a image which can be played on the DC, the instructions can be found here: https://gitlab.com/skmp/dca3-game#baking-the-cdi

PS: No, this is not an April Fool's joke, but we're going to love everyone thinking it is! Guess you're gonna have to try it to find out!🤣
