These new drivers from ATI are pretty fantastic.

PIII 733
Radeon 7500

3DMark 2001
Old score - 1132
New score - 2759!

This is a huge increase! Not only that, but the 2D quality has improved slightly and the 3D quality has improved a good amount, IMO. For instance, the falming dragon in 3DMark seemed like his flames were more realistic looking in this driver revision. There are a lot more control options in the MMC. I love it.

Nice for all you ATI owners.

But I must say that the first 3dmark score was really atrocious. I think I got 1300 with my Cel450 w/GF1DDR. Things just had to go up from there! :)

Yeah, something's not right with that old score, and I doubt the driver update is what made the difference. Are you sure you didn't just have FSAA enabled before?

Yes Elimc your initial score does seem rather low. Anyhow does anyone have some Radeon 8500 benchmark increases?

Maybe he had intro screens turned off.

3dmark increase is around 200 points for 1024x768 and 400 points for higher resolutions

Thanks Bambers, that is a relatively nice gain for Radeon 8500 owners.(Realistic as well. ;) ) I am impressed. Nvidia according to rumor is supposed to release the Det5 drivers soon I wonder what if any the disparity will be between the GF4 Ti200 and the Radoen 8500 cards. Should be interesting to say the least.

after some more testing

after playing around some more , morrowind doesn't drop past 10 fps anymore . Jedi knight is wierd though.. at 1600x1200 i get the same score with 2x and 4 x smooth vision

Well, at 1600x1200, 4x SmoothVision is Definately disabled on the 8500. If you are in Quality mode, then 2x will be disabled also.

The only Smoothvision settings supported at 1600x1200 is 2x performance.
