Best Mouse?

my old MS IntelliMouse Explorer (version 1) starts dying, so i need a new one.

it should have at least 5 Buttons, USB, wired (dont need a wireless mouse).

Right now i'm unsure if i should get the new IntelliMouse Explorer 3 or from Logitech the MX 500.

Which one would you get? (one of these, or a different one?)

Mat,

Not really sure which is better, but I do own a MX500. It seems to work very well for me. I have owned many Logitech and MS mice.

Not sure if this helps,

I love my MX700.

I love it so much... it's a thing of beauty. Admittedly, I don't need all the blasted buttons, but it fits my hand better than any other mouse I've ever used.

Couldn't agree more - the MX500 and 700 are both ergonomically great. Sad thing they're useless for me, since I am left-handed - so I'm using a standard Logitech Optical Wheelmouse (which still is great.)
Why don't the great two (Logi & MS) manufacture left-handed versions of their ergonomic mouses anymore?

I have also a mx500. Have no complains about it, except the acceleration of the mouse. I cannot game with the acceleration enabled. So do not install the mouseware drivers on the usual way, i have a tutorial where they disable the acceleration. If you need it, i will post it.
Also, do not unrestimate the power of a good mouse surface, in 2 years i have bought about 8 different surfaces. I played best with a ratzpad.

grtz en sorry for bad english

There's a hidden Logitech program that would allow you to disable acceleration in anything even with MouseWare installed. I'll look for it later, only here for a minute.

No program needed, only a few keys in the register, but a program may be easier ..

No, there is still a little bit acceleration ( i know sounds odd, i didnt believe it for myselve until i tested it )

Slightly off topic, but as a graphic designer, I find the logitech dual optical to be the best mouse I've ever used.

Its nice for games, and combined with my LCD, I get per pixel precision when I'm mousing around in Photoshop and the like.

I tried the MX series, and while nice, it seemed to concentrate on gaming and other high speed mousing more than low speed precision, which is what I need.

In my opinion, which can be taken with a grain of salt, the MX series is ideal for gaming and high speed mousing, while the dual optical is ideal for precise mousing activities.
