Are there any Xbox games which use 16-bit color?

Do any of you know if there are actual 16-bit color (or 16-bit texture precision) titles for the Xbox? I ask this because while playing Enclave, I noticed quite an amount of color banding on some texutres, especially the darker ones. Aside from bandwith, is 16-bit precision computationally less expensive for the NV2A?

Thankyou.

I could have sworn Halo was 16 bit, but apparently it is 32bit - it's just that despite being 32bit, a lot of colour banding occurs in dark areas.

Sounds dodgy to me.

it's a color precision thing. it could even be your TV. Since I've read that most TV wont display a full 24 bit color image with out loosing quality.

If it is a traditional analog-based set, I don't see how it could introduce banding on its own. Maybe in the newer ones that are applying some sort of digital-based processing before you see the image (such as scan conversion to progressive, for example).

...but dark areas/scenes are/have been a troublesome area for digital for some time. Literally, you are visualizing the last 1 or 2 bits of color resolution alone when you get to dark scenes.

Halo definitely has color banding in quite a few places, most notably on the transparencies. I thought the game was in 24 bit.

Or maybe the play games with the framebuffer to get higher dynamic range (overbright).

Cheers
