Anyone Hook their 360 to a Killawat?

I'm wondering just what that box draws. My Xbox pulls about 70W, while the Cube uses like 30W lol...

I was going to mod my Xbox into a media player until I measured the power it uses. So I just decided to build a low power leftovers PC. I have a Athlon XP Barton @ 1166/1.25v, 512MB, Radeon 7500, HDD, DVDROM drawing less than a Xbox. :)

Those numbers look lower than I would have expected. Since the Killawatt measures from the plug, and the power draw at the plug is typically about 30% higher than the actual power the machine uses (PSU is never 100% efficient). Unless of course, the device itself normalizes for that, which I doubt it would since it's supposed to be all about measuring based on how much wattage you're actually charged for.

Yeah that's the goal. I am interested in the AC draw, not what the machine itself uses internally.

160W is about what your average Athlon64 pulls. Assuming you don't have one of the most power sucking video cards.

For reference, my old dorm fridge pulls about 85W. 27" CRT TV pulls about 100W.

160 doesn't seem to be that much for a power brick like that?

Has anyone opened up the power brick to see what's inside? Maybe it's just a bunch of "safety" precautions....taken to the extreme.

Not seen any pics of a PSU dissected on the web. :( Not of a joypad either I might add...

Someone needs to remedy that, methinks.

The controller should be much easier to deal with... no? The Xbox controllers were easy to take apart and reassemble.

Bear in mind also, that they used a clamp meter that gives realtime results, so the actual draw depends on activity of the machine. If we're to take the whole "using only 1 core" thing to wit, then you can probably add on another 60-70 W or so for a worst-case scenario.
