Anybody know how many polys the best looking game on n64 had

n64

I just wondered if anybody knew cause I was wondering if any later games pushed more than 160,000 polys.

I don´t know. Honestly, it´s hard to tell, since most, if not all N64 games looked really blocky. Perhaps Conker...

Personally it isn't Perfeck Dark, while it was great technology wise, due to the added screen resolution really doesn't make it comparable it's also the reason for it's dodgy frame rate but that's the N64 experence.

Turok games were all pretty polygon-rich. Too bad the later installments suck the proverbial butt though. I never bothered with T3 at all, but T2 looked really good. Didn't play quite as good though.

Turok 2 also had the most aggressive fog in any video game, ever. :D For those who don't know: In Turok 2, generally speaking, if you're on one side of a room, you can't even see the opposite wall.

Mmm. I'd say Conker's BFD looks like it pushed the most polys on the N64, with the best frame rate of the high-poly games.

F-Zero X also seems to push a lot of polys on the tracks (not the vehicles though, LOL). I'm still wondering if the game uses some kind of HOS because damn, the tracks are smooth.

Turok 1 was several times worse in the fog department. Turok 2 was a drastic improvement. Turok 2 or CBFD would be my choices for best looking N64 game.

YEAH and Super Mario 3 was the best looking game on NES

by the way, with all this talk about 16bit consoles, why is it that SNES games with 3d graphics are seen as outstanding for the time (even though the 3d graphics was pretty lame) while games like Virtua Racing on Genesis never get mentioned? i mean i agree it doesn't hold a candle to the arcade version, but still it was quite an achievement at the time.

If you think that, grrl, you can't have played the original Turok, that's for sure. :) T2 is A LOT better in the fog department (it's also a lot jerkier in the framerate department as well, even without enabling the hires mode).

The fog fit the original game PERFECTLY though. It was amazing to see some old ruin come fading out of the fog, it was a true action adventure, a game of many discoveries. It should have been given the 32MB cart that the second game came on, and a year more of development time. It would have been totally gobsmackingly amazing.

It's still the greatest gaming experience I've had in years and years! :)

Nah. I've actually played a lot more Turok 1 than 2... T1 pisses me off though, what with having to re-do whole levels because I missed one key, and then running out of ammo because the enemies keep spawning and the ammo doesn't...

And as you said, T1 has nearer fog, but it fits the game better, and when you're in caverns it gets pushed back.

T2's fog is persistently close, and as I said, it's rare that you can see from one side of a room to the other (except corridors of course!).

T2's may be farther out, but it's more noticeable and more annoying.
