Antares is here, Xenon related.

This is the Antares for the Next Macintosh.

Antares= PowerPC 970MP.
Number of cores: 2.
CPU Clock Speed: 3Ghz.
CPU External bus: 1Ghz.
L2 Cache: 2MB (1MB per core).

I Know that the Antares in Xenon is a little different (the L2 cache isn´t divided between the two cares) but I believe that the changes will be little, probably a more faster External bus (1.25Ghz maybe).

AGAIN, xbox CPU will NOT be G5-based. FFS, people... :rolleyes:

G5 is a HUGE OoOE execution processor with an extremely wide instruction issue capability (like, 8 instructions/clock or somesuch). There's not going to be three of those on one chip in nextbox, NO F'N WAY. :D Frankly, I'd believe a quad-cell PS3 as soon as I'd believe a triple-core G5 nextbox.

Yeah 2 or 3 G5's won't do 1TFLOP :devilish:

So the XB360 CPU is a dual core then?
Antares is for the Mac, and it's a dual core G5. The XeCPU seems to be a three (or maybe dual?) two-ways PPC core. The G5, or PPC970, is not a two-ways core, so...

I see that you still don't believe in the, real, magic of ye olde marketing!

A lot of gamers heard this teraflops thing about the Cell CPU (mainly due to this forum, BTW), and since most of this gamers don't have clue about what the hell is a teraflops, but they know it's somehow a good thing, this explain this Teraflops-mania from the MS marketing division.
