AM3 COMPARISON @ DH - lowered FX IQ confirmed

With an image viewer program you can check the number of unique color values in each screenshot. The results from 3DGPU's PNG files:

ATI 83029
NV 45.33 75430
NV 51.71 75754

So it would clearly seem to be about precision/variation, not just about gamma. This gives some quantitative support to the claim that Ati's output is more vibrant.

The AA isn't missing at all since FSAA isn't even on.

Its there...

Do you know what level of AA was used? They look like Alphas to me and dependant on the mode there will be some level of texture AA on Alphas with NV boards but not with ATIs.

[edit] Errr, snap with Dio!

To me it looks like the lighting is somehow messed up with the 51.75 drivers. It's really hard to judge whether one is "worse" though. I can see the differences that many people have pointed out, and where the older detonators look better, but I also see spots on the 51.75's where I think they look better. I think it's too early to call "cheat." It definitely needs more analysis though.

Very interesting, although this would lend evidence towards the opposite of what people are saying. This implies that the 50 series has more variation.

For the DH screenshots all were taken with 1600x1200x32 with no AA or AF.

I would like to know if frames 500, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000, 3500, 4000, 4500 and 5000 are renderd the same way as all the rest.
N.B. these are the frames that AM3 will capture.

Aquamark3 is over.Nvidia treated it like 3dmark03

http://www.driverheaven.net/articles/aquamark3/index2.htm

Look at first chart of the test.
Dets 45.23 improve the performance dramatically.
But we all know Dets 45.23 doesnt improve the games like that.
Here is THG test about Dets 45.23.http://www20.tomshardware.com/graphic/20030818/index.html

We also know HL benchmark showed
Dets 45.23 was no good.

So I think it is Application Specific Optimization.
Now Aquamark3 is over.Nvidia treated it like 3dmark03.

I've about this on the guru3d.com board. Someone has concluded that the whole Driverheaven and Det51 issue is due to a reduction from fp32 to fp16. Hence, the lighting disappears because it's some sort of satuation effect that can't be reproduced by fp16, and also there is the color banding. I don't think a real conclusion about what's going in Det51 can be made at this moment, though so far it looks like its only PS precision dropping, which may be used to increase performance it might be a bug since the Det51 may have something weird like an adaptive "optimizer," which may or may not be legit.

Engall, you can't treat the numbers like that. UT2003 is a DX8 game while AM3 is DX9. A performance increase is "possible."

It seems you missed the last news: AM3 IS CLEARLY NOT a DX9 test but DX8 or DX8.1 Period.

Apparently you didn't read my post. The fact AM3 does use PS 2.0 so it qualifies as DX9 if perhaps only minimally. Thus, it is "'possible'" that it could recieve a performance boost.
