AGP vs. PCI-E ? How long?

Any speculation on when will see the first PCI-E vs AGP showdown?
When's the first PCI-E board going to be released and by whom? Fill me in I'm behind the curve.

its not really expected to show any difference in performance..
unless the PCI-E version is a faster card in itself..

the difference between AGPx4 and AGPx8 is usually non existant and
neglectable at best, and that is a doubleing from 1 to 2 Gb/sec..
suggesting that 4Gb/sec wont show any further improvement..
but, in the future apps can be made to draw advantage from it i guess..
tho it would prolly require it to become mainstream first..

When, i dunno..
i guess there wont be a huge rush with the low PCI-E ready computers
with the users, and the fact it wont showcase any peformance leaps in
anything other then possibly HDTV video editing..

I dont think our problem is the agp 8x bandwidth, i think our problem is with the agp cards theirself.

It would seem if a card cant effectively utilize that bandwidth the bottleneck is elsewhere. (yea yea i know about the nifty new pci features.)

As far as game benchmarks I doubt you will see any performance difference in cards using agp8x or pci-express until games start to get coded with pci-express in mind. Then there could be opportunities for cpu limited games to offload some work onto the gpu. Some applications could see immediate benefits if they choose to utilize the gpu power.
