ACONY, another U3Engine based FPs

Last May, German developer ACONY announced that it licensed Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3 to develop an original multiplayer FPS title for PC and next generation consoles. Today, ACONY has released the first images showing some examples intended to illustrate job applicants.

We placed the following work examples to illustrate the usual production process at ACONY. This is meant to give an overview to potential job applicants.

To match the standards for next-generation graphics, we are producing high polygon models, normals maps, specular maps and diffuse maps for 90% of all objects in the game. In addition to that, some objects also have emissive maps and reflection maps.

A character model is always started as high-polygon model, in this case 12.8 Million polygons for the whole character.

Ah, polybump. Such an innovative technological breakthrough for a project to be finished in, what, 2007-2008?

yeah, it's a surprise that current/slightly-old-gen engines will be eclipsed by next-gen. ;)

all these pretty screenshots have a lot to do with the artists' talent as well. tech upgrade won't automatically beautify gfx. a lot of extra work and extra parameters/effects need to be set up in order to achieve the compositional quality we've seen in the GoW/UT2007 screenies.

He is pointing out that the UE3 engine has many more design wins than either of the other aformentioned engines. And games based on Doom3/ Source engines will be coming out in the timeframe of some UE3 engine games, so imo they are comparable.

It's sad to think that those Doom and Source engine games are taking so long to come out. Whats the problem?
