"AAA" games

Heh, yeah I do - but the original language is always better. :p Seriously, german is all nice and all, but try watching badly lip synched and badly translated movies in another language and I bet you wouldn't give anything that's not in its native language a second thought!

Oh, and thanks maskrider, I'll definately check that site out aswell..

Yea ok now I know what you mean. Anime makes me cry whenever I see it dubbed.

But ICO isn't even in any language really, so it shouldn't matter where you get it from. (the spoken language is madeup)

Heh, thanks ChryZ! I'll definately check out the link and might make a few purchases through that shop...
Pleasure, if you got trouble to find a copy, check out this page http://www.alcom.ch/ . They got ICO in PAL, US and JP. Very nice people, good and quick service. They got a lot stuff, even those crazy FFX jewelry merchandise. Not the most inexpensive shop though ...

The reason for me wanting it platinum though is just me being on a really tight budget lately.. I just got the eyetoy a few days ago. :)
Got muscle soreness? :D

I hate dubbing too.

careful your *this* far from being accussed of subbing elitism. face Dub == massmarket and more penetration. whether it decreases the quality of the original is subjective and for the casual gamer/theatre goer is moot anyway.

No need to accuse me, I am judged and guilty ... and I will do it again. I could not accept the loss, dub is causing to the original intention of script writers, word-play, humor or acting performance. I pratice, what I preach. Sure, this attitude comes at a price, but I'm more than willing to pay it. You are right about casual gamers/theatre goers ... I pity those.

The only "language" in ICO you will see is reading 3 or 4 subtitled sentences (throughout the whole game). And the game looses none of it's charm even if you can't read any of it(my first playthrough was with Japanese version).

And to add to all the ICO pimping, the PAL version also has selection for like 6 different languages so...

Hehe, no further convincing required ... Phil got ICO by now ;)

In recent times I would say Prince of Persia Sands of Time and Project Gotham Racing 2 as well as Top Spin. Mario Sunshine makes it into the AA category for me.

I kind of think NFS: Undergound (PC Version) should be classed as AAA but then again it is not innovative enough even though it is a very enjoyable game.

AAA is a title that is used too often now for games that are merely Brilliant. :p

 I just realized how old this thread was... damn now I feel real silly, even if I did once again post under lack of sleep.

The reason why this got bumped eludes me, however.
To embarass people that don't check the date like myself? :p

Well as long as you add something constructive to it unlike Yogi .. hehe I dont think you need to be embarassed Fafalada.... I mean I cant even use lack of sleep as an excuse for not checking the date.

A question though: are developers forced to spend millions to make a game that looks and feels professional enough on the presentation side leaving too little resources on the content side?

Or.. can a small developer with only a fraction of the budget of Sony, Nintendo etc even produce AAA games?

Sorry, but i must need you to tell me that i shall play ICO, i wanted the game for long.. bought it for 6(?) months and haven´t managed to play more than 2 hours of it.. I must be sick so tell me for goods sake that i MUST play it, i´m insane else or... 8)

;)

The beauty in Ico lies in its artistic direction. Loneliness, wonder and subtle storytelling mix up to an amazing experience. If you can't feel them, it's ok. But no one will be able to explain or teach how to feel-appreciate those to you ;)
