A Gamcube Question

Do you have a quote about needing to drop the voltage or avoiding issues of heat?

No just the quote I already posted saying that the reason for the alteration to the system was in order to gain more CPU power as devs felt that the CPU power was a weakness in the dev system (which used only a 150mhz GPU BTW). Heat/power usage are just the only obvious reasons I can think of for having to drop the GPU speed in order to increase the CPU speed. The other reason I've heard mentioned on forums is that Gekko only has 2 and 3 multipliers, but I don't think that reason is valid as the dev systems were using a 2.5 CPU multiplier AFAIK.

Ah. I read your initial post and also couldn't understand the reasoning behind it. That in order to bring up the CPU speed they had to bring down the GPU speed. Your very next sentence then implied that it was due to multiplier constraints, that they couldn't just move from a 2x to a 3x. I think that's where the confusion sets in. No where was it mentioned that there were Heat/Voltage concerns caused by running the GPU at the higher Mhz. Even that is still conjecture and it could actually be cost/yields as well.

Hay guys I was just wondering how much of the texture cache the GC uses in an real time game senario maybe you guys could give me like a rough estimate or something.
