DO you think XDR-Ram is the good choice for PS3's setup?

Just wondering what you guys may think, and if not, then what ram do you think would work perfect with the PS3?

This is based on what we know now....

Rambus Technology in Computing Applications

Advanced processing power is limited by bottlenecks of accessing the data. Rambus's chip-to-chip interface technologies allow chip and system companies to maximize this power with cost-effective solutions.

Multi-gigahertz processors, new interface standards and increasing demands for high-bandwidth and application performance continue to transform the computing market. To meet the demands of this ever-changing landscape, Rambus offers a number of memory and logic interfaces that are optimized for use in different computing platforms, including desktop PCs, workstations, servers and peripherals.

well, what's so good about XDR? :?

In a nutshell: very high bandwidth for not particulary many pins and easily scaleable in bus width. I'm sure there are other considerations too.

Main advantage, low power consumption. Main disadvantage is that the 1 interface to 1 chip mapping means your portential memory configurations are rather limited. Not very relevant to the PS3 assuming they planned everything well, but the memory is poorly suited to PCs.

the ram will also most likely be more expensive than ddr ram .

Esp if ms goes with ddr ram that is heavly used or gdr ram that is used in a ton of devices .
