Avowed [XBSX|S, PC, XGP]

@Dictator when you tested avowed on pc, was it the steam version? Mind loading it up and seeing if it’s using dlss3 preset c? I can’t seem to force it to use Transformer no matter what over ride I do.

Finally there's a profile for avowed in the nvapp and you can force different presets.

Default is C:

This is preset K:

It's like someone took the blur out of the picture. What you can't see is the stability of the image. No more shimmering and crawling and motion is trails free. It's a different experience.

I’ll check tonight. Thanks for the heads up

Performance impact?

I'm about 12 hours in and taking my sweet time through this gorgeous world.

I agree that the world could be more dynamic and more populated, but the combat, exploration and decent story put it at an 85% for me so far.

I'm on my second play through now. Mopping up the couple of quests I missed the first time around and checking out all the corners of the maps for secrets I missed. Didn't really notice the lack of life in the world the first time around but now it is quite noticable that the world is a just a static painting and the people in it are just automatons repeating the same actions over and over again. I've also found some areas that have a distinct resemblance to areas in the Outer Worlds, just the assets are different.

Overall it's been an enjoyable game, but it's not really anything special, the addition of a few extra gameplay features doesn't really make it stand out from the Outer Worlds which actually seeemed to have far more in it than this does. If I was to score it I'd say a 6 or 7 out 10. Maybe they can patch in some extra magic or bring some DLC to play but I don't think they can improve the core loop to make it better.

Interesting (not so much ). I have the exact opposite opinion. I play a lot with it and it's a 9.5/10 experience for me, which means it's almost perfect. For some reason, the atmosphere of the world and the combat system really caught me. It's just like what I've ever expected from an FPS wizard game. Control dynamics and animations with RPG complexity but still action game dynamics. Game of the year for me so far. :)

You must have a lot of time on your hands to play through a game again that you only rate a 6 or 7. LOL

Well I paid for it so I might as well get my monies worth. Once I've done this playthrough though that will be it. There's not enough to justify returning to it again, the multiple ending still require you play through the same limited scenarios to get to, and it will just join the pile of old games on the 'played that nothing to see here' heap. I mean I even played through Veilguard a second time to see if making different choices had any impact on the game itself. Which, admittedly, was a waste of time :D

Totally different to say, The Witcher 3, BG3, Cyberpunk, or even the Outer Worlds; and others. , all of which just have a certain charm and magic to them that makes them compelling to play again.

Everyone has different tastes and expectations when they play a game. I'm always excited to see what strange annd exotic worlds the devs have contrived but in this case, outside of the combat which is fun for the most part, the rest of the game is a pretty shallow experience compared to their previous productions. But I am happy that you and many others are enjoying it, it's a fun game. I just find it lifeless and constricted for me to rate it so highly.

Avowed has a hoover loot up quality really enjoy. At the early stage I'm at, the item and cooking system make collecting everything feel worthwhile as you can chuck loot at upgrades and recipes every time you're back at camp.

I like that everything you pick up is ultimately useful in Avowed. The weapon upgrade system is pretty cool.

The NPCs aren't as static as people make out, btw. They do move around a bit and go about their day, but they generally don't react much to you outside of dialogue. Although, I broke into a warehouse once and was immediately cornered by some smugglers that didn't appreciate it.
