AM4 will never die.

With the rising cost of mobos with the newest platforms I'm not surprised. In decades past I used to be more of an early adopter for new platforms, but looking at the prices of new + usably-featured motherboards is enough to give me some sticker shock. It's actually a big part of why I chose Raptorlake over Zen4 last time around, as I was able to find a z690 board that was deeply discounted while AM5 mobos were still carrying their launch MSRP. Spending a few hundred dollars more than you're comfortable with on a motherboard just doesn't get offset by the value-add you get from the latest features. I'm not even sure if it's the final dollar amount, but rather the notion that you've entered into a new luxury/boutique price bracket that expects you to have more money than sense.
