How about a RV420 on 110nm low-k, released at the same time (or slightly later) as the R420...

Actually....

I'm going to guess that the first R420 generation is using a standard (non low-k) 0.13u process. ATI will reap enough power benefits by going from 0.15 to 0.13, and it should be more mature / known than the low-k process. Then, I'm guessing ATI will move the R420 to low-k as a product refresh.

All pure speculation. :)
 
I would expect that R420 should be scheduled to tape out some time this month, with first silicon back sometime in November.

That would be the expected time frame for a late February or March product launch, with April shipping.

I remember MuFu clearly hinting at the R420 using Low-K. Whether it's now outdated info is another story, of course, but still...
