What are you playing now? [2007-2018]

Well, er... I never played GalCiv, 1 or 2. So I can't say. What I will say is that this has real potential, and observing the level of communication between the developer and the players on the forum has been extremely interesting.

I got the StarDrive beta on Steam, and it rocks.

Sim City is back in 2013!

Sorry, I was perhaps unclear - I totally agree. When the game went up for pre-order, your unlock date should have been set based on how many pre-orders had already been taken. Thus the first x punters got day 1, the next x got day 3 and so-on, where x is a number that EA/Maxis felt comfortable...

Sim City is back in 2013!

The thing I just don't understand about the whole server debacle is why they didn't stagger the launch. Make the first 100,000 players digital only and then unlock 20,000 installs every 2 days or something. The die-hards who pre-ordered would have understood and most of the bad press would have...

    Surface PRO pricing revealed !

Oh I exchanged it. Replacement model had the same problem. Then I went back to the shop and listened carefully to the model that was on the shop floor - same thing. That's when I got a refund. There's been at least one revision on the model since then however, so it may no longer be an issue.

    Surface PRO pricing revealed !

Oh I have no special knowledge, and I recognise that quiet PCs have been out for ages. The Samsung ultrabook I mentioned was silent until the fans started, and even then the noise wasn't outrageous - it was just obvious to me that there was a fan imbalance or something similar and I knew it...

    Surface PRO pricing revealed !

I bought a Samsung NP900X3B almost the weekend it came out. I'd been following the ultrabook trend and this one seemed to be the ideal combo of thinness and performance with a great screen. It cost a bomb, too. I ended up taking it back over noise issues however (you can read the whole sorry...

    Surface PRO pricing revealed !

This thing has gotten my attention. Early previews are looking promising. If Microsoft have somehow produced something that makes virtually no noise I'll be seriously impressed.

    Endless Space

Yeah, combat is the weak point, no doubt. I just skip it. However I've always been more of a builder, and for that kind of gameplay it's fun.

    Endless Space

Jeez, it only took 7 months for someone else to buy it?! homer, if you fancy a game let me know. I have the same handle in Steam.

    Endless Space

The answers are no, just planets and yes. The game makes some interesting choices. It treats systems (i.e. groups of planets around a sun) as a single entity with one production queue. Within the system you can choose to colonize and move populations around to maximize "FIDS", which are the...

    TES V: Skyrim

What's the bug status with Skyrim like these days? Have the largest issues been ironed out?

    Endless Space

So I've played it quite a bit since purchase. It's quite dry, in that there's no "personalities" involved, unlike say, Civ, and it's a bit like spreadsheet management... but it gets much more enjoyable as you get into it. Even in Alpha this is a complete game.

    Endless Space

So I was looking at Steam to see if Skyrim had come down in price or was on offer... and saw Endless Space. Five minutes later and it's currently downloading and I'm gonna have a root around in the Alpha. Couple of previews...
