Digital Foundry Article Technical Discussion [2025]

I think Cyberpunk is a pretty solid way to compare the CPU performance between Switch 2 and the other consoles. There are a few segments in that game that are really CPU heavy, like Cherry Blossom Market. I know it's CPU limited because my Core i7 9750H is pretty similar in terms of performance...

    AMD RDNA4 Architecture Speculation

So still no BVH traversal in hardware? Instead we get one more intersection engine? Am I understanding that right?

The benchmark should use the final version of the game I assume.

Digital Foundry Article Technical Discussion [2025]

2080 still doesn't get 60 FPS even at low and DLSS Performance@1080p. This performs vastly better than equivalent PC specs. Probably the worst optimized PC port of all time, where does all the performance go?

    Value of Hardware Unboxed benchmarking

It's just sacrificing visual quality for more performance. The draw distance is impressive, but the texture quality, asset quality and lighting is nothing to write home about and does appear a bit last-gen-y. The ground is really flat, the difference to new titles on UE5 is staggering. But I...

Machine Learning: WinML/DirectML, CoreML & all things ML

No, it still uses the new neural rendering format, but it's just quite slow without Ada+ hardware. I was playing around with the demo a little bit on my 2060 laptop. The closer you get to the textures, the more performance it costs. But memory savings are huge. Interestingly, DLSS reduces...

Digital Foundry Article Technical Discussion [2025]

Oof. Perhaps Blackwell will benefit once much more geometry is traced against like that dragon demo? It has a dedicated cluster engine after all. Or it's just a hoax. Blackwell also doesn't do better on running the transformer models. Really disappointing architecture.

Current Generation Games Analysis Technical Discussion [2024] [XBSX|S, PS5, PC]

Nixxes was overhyped to begin with. Their VRAM-PCIe-Bus stuff is really weird. It hammers performance even when VRAM is enough.

    Nvidia Blackwell Architecture Speculation

That's a great result, really nice. And Blackwell should benefit from it even more. If devs use this for higher perf instead of pushing higher visual fidelity, then that should allow for more performant RT on lower end cards. I wonder if this feature also reduces VRAM.

Doom: The Dark Ages [XBSX|S, PC, PS5, XGP]

I don't get that minimum requirements recently are noticeably higher than what the lowest common denominator offers, the Series S. Series S just has 14 effective threads for games, not 16. On top of that the CPU is weaker due to the high latency GDDR-RAM. It also just has 10 GB shared between...

Sadly not. In certain levels, this pops up:

    Nvidia Blackwell Architecture Speculation

You will be more than fine. My old RTX 2060 laptop drops from 88 to 70 FPS in CP2077 on performance mode, and thats with the old drivers. And one of the weakest RTX cards.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 50-series Blackwell reviews

That's incorrect. Your latency would then be noticeably higher than 30 FPS without Frame Gen because the rendering cost of frame gen would push the game below 30 FPS. I've tried FSR Frame Gen in Ratchet and Clank at a locked 60 FPS and it was unplayable. Tim's review is excellent and...

Doom: The Dark Ages [XBSX|S, PC, PS5, XGP]

The minimum requirements were spot on in Indy though, with 6 GB its not possible to play certain levels at a good performance level.

Doom: The Dark Ages [XBSX|S, PC, PS5, XGP]

Oof, same specs as Indy huh with 8 GB VRAM as the minimum requirement? That really hurts. Why are they not exposing the Series S settings on PC? They are leaving all the RTX 3060, 2060 laptops and RTX 4050s in the dust that would be perfectly able to play the game otherwise. Series S just has...
