Xenos better than RSX?

Look people, just don't reply, okay? As long as the concept of 'there's too many unknowns' and 'you can't assume of PS3's performance is that of a PC' and all that jazz goes ignored and people get responses to these daft threads, they'll keep appearing. B3D keeps covering the same old ground over and over at the moment, filling up with garbage.

To the OP : Read the forum, search on tech debates, and come to understand why you cannot make any comparisons from these games, incomplete, in totally different systems. We see so many damned comparisons of incomplete games on non-existent hardware. When are people going to come to understand there's no answers to be had? Stop with all the entrail reading already!

Have you ever heard about optimiziation? You know, when on a fixed platform like a console you can tweak your code for better efficiency, whereas on a PC you don't have as many tools and possibilities to get near the hardware's limits?

Yes, the more I see the more apparent difference in PC and console architecture can make for very vast performance of same game even though Xbox360 seems at first not so different from PC. Just as Xbox360 Quake 4 performance is not so good PC call of duty 2 performance is not so good. I think what surprised me in both cases is vast gap in performance. There must be more difference in architecture than what seems at first. This difference is what I am trying to discover.

If you want to compare PC performance (as opposed to PS3 performance, which is something different), fair enough, but do bear in mind the differences with closed platforms as mentioned. But then also at least compare like with like.

The resolutions you're comparing to aren't the same (one is too little, the other too much), and do we know the AA/AF levels at work on the X360 version?

Everyone knows that the PS3 is nothing but a PC with an overclocked G70 in it and the Xbox 360 is nothing but a PC with an R600 in it, so yes, your comparisons are right!

It's thunder storming outside so I have to bid you guys goodbye, put on my tinfoil hat , and try to catch lighting in a glass bottle. Wish me luck!

I'm just going to assume for the sake of my own sanity that you were being sarcastic Alpha...

Edit: My humor finally came back after running away due to college testing :) Quite funny and at the same time sad hehe.

Not architecture, just GPU

I dont know AA/AF for xbox360 version, but I assume at 720p it has some AA and AF since previews say it looks as good or better than PC version.

As for hardware comparison, I was try to focus on just GPU performance (xenos, 7800GTX, RSX) not system wide performance, as you might notice, in my post I never mentioned PS3, just RSX, or what might be RSX. Given no mentioned of CPU limitation for xbox360 or PC I assumed it would be easy to compare purely GPU performance.

Hye Shifty. How does it go? Is it raining there in the UK? It is raining here in the states... well, some parts in the states. Other parts are sunny. Well, not any more because it is night, but you know what I mean...

... You do know what I mean, right? I mean, because what I mean is what I mean, and that is important. If you cannot understand that then our relationship is really on the rocks... you know what I mean?

::Sigh:: This posting thing is so hard.

So Alpha, get any of the lightening in that bottle? I had once read that a single lightening bolt could power an entire city the size of NYC for weeks if all the power in the strike could be conserved and harnested. Pretty amazing!

Does the tin foil hat help in conduction? Or is that to prevent the space aliens from reading your mind. My neighbor, Jerry Fletcher, wears odd tin hats. Something about the black helicopters in whisper mode trying to track him. I have not seen him since his apartment burned down though.

The answer is GREEN. I hope that answered all the questions for this thread. All further inquires can be forwarded in PM to Alpha_Spartan@Beyond2d.co.uk
