Please note: We are now unable to promise delivery of the Xbox 360 pre-Christmas. We will endeavour to fulfil new orders placed for the system as soon as is possible but are currently unable to speculate when exactly that will be. We are however, able to continue to take orders for our first allocation of the Xbox 360 Core System until further notice. For more information please see our F.A.Q.

Although the pricing doesn't appear to have gone down too well in the USA, it'd appear that the UK is a different story. As of 14:30 today GAME (by far the largest UK video game retailer) can no longer guarentee you a premium XB360 prior to xmas.

I know... I was the the one (and only) one that placed an order and now BANG it's sold out!!!

[EDIT]
And before anyone gives me bad reps for this post - I think it's a little to early to say that "Xbox360 is selling like hotcakes" considering it isn't even out yet. Then in addition - we don't even know how many units GAME have factored in as "guaranteed" in the first place. In fact, however here during the PS2 launch - none of the bigger shops even knew the exact amount of units they would be getting - and I am fairly certain it's an unknown quantity in the case of Xb360 as well. So would it still be selling like hotcakes if there were a mear amount of a few thousands factored in? I think not. It's all relative and thus I think this topic is a bit rendundant without more information.

Cheers Phil

I preordered mine in Angel Islington GAME at lunchtime and was the 57th person in that store......not bad when it's only been on preorder a couple of days! However, you're right, it's a bit early - I was just rather surprised, and as I say, they are the biggest UK video game retailer by a large margin!

In most stores its been like this for a few months in the usa . Gamestop has been on second shipments for a long time now

Yeah, but UK stores didn't allow preorders until a few days ago when the pricing was announced. So it looks quite possitive in the UK at least.
BTW, what's happened in the USA with regards to preorders made on the presumption of a $299 premium pack pricepoint? I bet that caused a hell load of problems!

we've had 7 cancels and 4 new preorders so we've lost 3 people in total . I don't know how many we hae total we stoped counting at 45 when we found out one store had a 110 and we were out of the running for the prizes . It sucks when we are lumped in with new york city and garden state plaza stores where even though we are a block away from that store they do 10 times the busniess that we do .

Most don't care about the price as they find the 400$ is a good deal and what they were expecting . Esp when we tell them the price of the acessorys

You still getting the 360 yourself jvd?

As I said earlier: Not many will care about all this HD-price nonsense from last week. The X360 is still going to sell out this holiday. Hardcore gamers that are going to spend $3000 on X360 games over the next 5 years don't care about an extra $100 at launch.

we dropped 2 systems from the 3 we were getting .

So yea i will still get one . We dropped the other 2 because htey would be to far from our router to run wire and we feel 500$ before game and controller costs is a bit to high

I think it's really exciting to see a "world wide" launch (especially at the price).

Even with the couple of weeks delay that is great for Euro gamers and I'd imagine adds to the excitment level.

I play on LIVE with several Europeans (they like their tactical shooters) ;) and it will be cool to see them get in on some PDZ around the same time as the NA's.

why not just use a wireless bridge for 1 or 2 of the consoles?

a good wireless bridge is going to be like 70+

Aside from that we have a 3 floor house . On the top floor is my little place. I have 2 rooms and a full bathroom . ONe room is the lounge type place where i have my video games and the p c and the other is the reading room / bedroom that used to be my oldest sisters but she moved out 2 years ago.

Then my younger sister is on the main floor with my parents and one system would go there .

My youngest sister is in the basement and has the whole finished basement to herself . That is where the other one will go .

So one bridge isn't going to happen. We are looking at 2 . Which will be expensive

Only problem with a worlwide launch is that it becomes a "very delayed launch" for most people who can't get their hands on a unit for months. It happens already with separate launches, i can only imagine the mess with worldwide ones.

Even if we hardcore gamers dont like the idea of 2 SKUs, specially when it messing with the HDD, fact is, choice is allways good. More people than we can think of dont care about the HDD or the HD cables or even the Wireless controllers. For example kids, kids dont care, it has wires? So what? It doenst come with hd cables? I dont play on a hdtv.....! The hdd? YEah i will buy it if i want to play online, but what if my parents dont let me? Why would i pay for something i wouldnt use?

Choice is allways good. There's a initial shock now because MS was singing another song 1 month ago, but i believe that as opposed to what we and game journalists say, this will bring more beneficts to MS on the long run than we think, and ultimally will benefict us, because more gamers mean more games.

I can see some people ending up with the core unit if only because they won't be able to get the premium sku!

Yup, I could see that also. I could also see the demand for the 360 exceeds the supply. :p

I put a preorder for PS2 at my local game shop during 2000. They didn't know how many they'd get for launch, and promised to deliver them in the order the preorders had been received. I was some 50th in the list.

Eventually the shop got something like ten PS2's for launch, as I was late in preordering so obviously coudn't get one from there.

Fortunately my local supermarket had got four PS2's, and as I went there early in the morning, only one other person was there "queuing" for the PS2, so I got it there. Later that day when I visited the same supermarket, the rest 2 had also been sold.
Also the other stores had sold out their approx. 10 PS2's that they'd got, and only one or two in addition to my local supermarket had not taken preorders.

PS2 were selling like hotcakes.
