EDIT: sfried, mine a tad more detailled, that's why it takes some time...
EDIT: articles on Necronesia, Excite Trucks, Legend of Zelad, Project HAMMER, Rayman Raving Rabidds and Sonic contain nothing new, thus omitted

EDIT: New details

It did another round of first impressions: Wii Sports and Hajimete no Wii. This will also be added to the big post linked on the first page. So no stress, Vysez.

Wii Sports seems interesting to me because the boxing seems to be every Punch Out fan’s dream. Generally the descriptions are a little bit more detailed. Enjoy…

Wii Sports:

Boxing:
It is game in which you box while holding the nunchaku in the left and the remote controller in the right hand. If you push the Wiimote or the nunchaku forwards, you are able to throw a punch. Holding the Wiimote and nunchaku upright, triggers the guard. If you move the Wiimote and the nunchaku in all directions in the guard stance, you can swing your body and thus avoid the punches of your opponent.
A pic says more than thousand words
wiit12.jpg

Tennis:
Character is moved automatically. Only swing the Wiimote aka the racket is necessary.

Baseball:
Batting is handled by swinging the Wiimote like baseball bat. Pitching is done by gesturing a throwing motion. Defense and Base running is handled automatically.

Bowling:
Placing the Wiimote left or right determines the direction. Throwing the ball is handled with exactly the same motion like in real bowling. While holding the B button the ball is held, move the arm backwards and release the ball when swinging forward by releasing the B button. The speed of the swing determines the speed of the ball. Twisting the ball at the instant of release adds curve to the ball

Golf:
Hold the Wiimote like a golf club. Hold the Wiimote downward, swing while holding the A button and hit the ball. The different clubs and the swinging speed determines the distance of the ball. If you swing without pressing the A button, a guide appears. For putting it is necessary to swing the Wiimote lightly. It’s probably the most difficult title out of the Wii Sports games.

Hajimete no Wii:
7 games aimed at those who are using a console for the first time. Getting people used to swinging, pointing and pushing

Pointing Ping Pong:
Swing the racket aka Wiimote. That’s it

Fishing:
Fish with the Wiimote

Shooting:
Point at the aims and shoot. If you hit the face of a Mii, points are deducted.

Billard:
Choosing the Wiimote as queue, the ball is beaten by moving the remote forward. The Speed determines the power, the trail of the ball is governed by the pointer.

Search that Mii
From a group of Mii characters, the player needs to point out the only Mii that fits the description. The player earns points for finding one of many Miis within a time limit.

Pose Mii:
A pose is specified within a circle on the screen. Because the pose of the Mii can be change by pressing the A button, the completely same pose as shown has to be assumed. After the pose is the same, the Mii has to be move with the pointer until it fits in the circle.

Hockey:
Just like airhockey. Hit the puck and it bounces back. Try to push it into the opponent’s goal

I don't know how much this is going to cost here in Europe, but the prices quoted here seems a bit pricey for a last gen console with a new controller. The cheap Xbox360 is not going to be that much more expensive, especially if the MS is reducing price for holiday season.

ok, this is weird. i'm feeling intoxicated now - while browsing through the UI snippets i totally expected to see some sexy metrowerks IDE in action

i think ninty just reinvented the game console as such. respect.

*0400 - heads off to bed as tomorrow works needs to be done, code has to be written*

No DVD playback, but a WEATHER CHANNEL:?: :(

An adventure game, starring Wanko the dog... Sounds like quite an adventure! Lemme guess. The name of the dog will NOT be "wanko" in the west...

Prices seem a bit high overall for the wii itself and the virtual console games, but it could have been worse. Wii software seems to be decently priced at least compared to the ludicrous pricing seen on 360 and - from what I expect - PS3.

Does the wii box look a tad large to you guys? There's no real sense of scale in that picture so I could be mistaken, but it looks kinda big to me.

I didn't even see the dog's name til now

Price..what I expected. The max they could push it. I'm sure they're likely turning a profit on that, so on the one hand I feel like scolding them, but on the other, they're really just taking advantage of the opportunities opened to them by the competition and I guess you can't blame them for that.

As for the rest..I really didn't think I'd come away more impressed with the UI and other software than what was shown on the games side. I don't know if I should be happy or disappointed about that ;) Don't get me wrong, I'm as hot as ever for Mario/Zelda/Metroid (and Mario looks amazingly hot in that video), but I hoped new stuff would grab me. There's always the American conference..

(Oh, and I'm slightly antsy about the European date..will we really get it before Japan?)

So Wii is launching in the US first, and Japan second? And both times after PS3? Doesn't sounds the best choice to me.

I don't think that the 500k playstations are any real competition. There might even be more preorders already. Launching two days later allows them to cash in on impulse buyers, disappointed that their savings didn't net them a ps3. Sadly, no European launch :(

They did the same with the DS.

Rumour has it, it'll also launch in Europe before Japan. A blogger on Jeux-France reported two weeks ago that the system would come in November for the US, and Dec 2 for Japan (yes, he had that exact date) and he also said Dec 1 for Europe..I guess we'll see, I hope that is true.

News from Famitsu again:

Wii will be touring Japan to give gamers chance to play it.

Nov 3rd Nagya University, Nov 11th Osaka; Nov 25th Murakari hall (this is where the TGS is located)

Anyone else see a big cross marketing promotion with Pepsi or McDonalds where you can win Virtual Console points? I can see them using something like that to offset the price for some of those games.

Was the no DVD bit confirmed? If so it kinda pisses me off. I live in Japan and I was hoping to import a US Wii and use it as a DVD player for American movies. It might not be a big deal to many people, but at 250 ****ing dollars it should play movies.

Gamespot says it plays DVDs alright

Besides the Wii's previously announced DVD playback abilities,..

I don't think anyone doubted that the hardware itself would be capable of DVD playback. Whether it will be freely available in an off the shelf Wii is another matter. Considering that even rudimentary DVD playback support racks up something like $7 in various license fees, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see DVD-video support offered as an unlockable online upgrade.

How cool does boxing look! Suck on that one EA:

EDIT:
They (posts above) say that Wii has the advantage of surfing the net due to its controller (acts not unlike a mouse). Question: Whats going to act as the keyboard? A peripheral, or some on-screen keyboard where you have to point on the letter to type it??
