Worldwide Wii Day (Sep 14/15): the official thread *Released Nov 19 for $250 (US)*

The latest rumor from a IGN poster who supposedly has good connections is $229 plus Wii sports packed in.
225 is acceptable, though perhaps not ideal. I'd have preferred $200. At least it's better than $250, which seems to be what many expected..

$229 is too much I think. That's only $70 cheaper than the 360. Of course, this is all just speculation at the moment so I'll wait for the real price announcement. Here's hoping for $199 with wii sports packed in. Also, the show starts 9pm EST not 8pm.

$229 with two wiimote+nunchuck plus pack-in game is pretty acceptable compared to a $300 bare XBOX360 with no games and nothing else packaged.

No, it is way too much IMO.
It would be nice if it had a pack-in game, but it's pretty okay.

gonintendo is covering the event live. their blog mirror is here, in case you can't get to their main site.

edit (yeah, again!) GWN is still under question - gonintendo say those guys were reporting god knows what.

edit (final) that's it, i'm done with GWN for tonight. just disregard them.

It still is if you are not interested in those "extras".

No problem. Anyway, 3 hours 30 minutes left

So much:cry: ... I will miss it.

huh. both gonintendo and the GWN blog started reporting on the event - maybe it is actually going already. one?

*UPDATE 3* - 10:38 AM: Conference has officially started! Iwata is here along with several other Nintendo big wigs from Japan. The speaker is introducing everyone. Iwata got up and took a bow.

edit holy internet, batman - looks gonintendo themselves were misled by GWN - the above 'update' is not really an update as it's on last year's video footage spoofed by GWN.

I think that "live" blog is fake. The press conference begins 14:00 JST, not 10:00 JST.

Weird :???:

10:40 AM: Still introducing the Nintendo reps present.

Skip, one of the 1up editors said that the even is not going to begin for 3 more hours :???:

Its really confusing. Is the blog fake or not :???:

one, it seems your source was right after all - GWN were spoofing. i edited my relevant posts (lost the edit count already, doh). gotta love the 'net "journalism" these days.
Yeah, the gwn blog is gone now! And the picture of Iwata at GWN angelcurio posted seemed to be the one from the conference in the last year

... Anyway, 3 hours left and this is the supposed address of the webcast (It's not ready yet).

Looks like they were given the june link as well. Someone did the same thing at gaf.

Here's a question: why does everyone consistently expect such low-prices upon introduction of new hardware (even if it isn't impressive or sophisticated)? I recall reading speculation of $300 Xbox 360s with hard disks built-in, $400 PS3s with Blu-Ray and more HDMI ports than you can shake a stick at, and the Revolution/Wii selling for practically the same price as handheld systems. It just seems like people are setting themselves up for disappointment.

Pretty underwhelming if you ask me. Something like 149 would have blown the doors off. But I'm sure all that motion sensor technology isn't cheap. And I'm also sure Nintendo wants to continue making a fat profit off of hardware sales.
