There's 512MBs of integrated, non-removable flash memory in the Wii console.I'm talking about what the regular consumer will pay in store, which is far more meaningful than what 'we' could get it for.
There's plenty of room to improve on on Wii, as dev kits get more accurate to Wii hardware. Also, let me remind you that GC wasn't exactly "maxed-out".Also, the graphics we're seeing aren't too bad, but do these represent as good as it gets on Wii? On XB360 and PS3, we know there's loads of room to grow. However, Wii is supposedly working like a GC, using GC tools. It sounds like there's little room for advancement. It's all there from the beginning.
The launch price is fine if you want a Wii. The problem I have with it is that it seems very clunky for controlling traditional genres. I'll pick one up for the quirky Wiimote games that actually could not be done with a traditional controller, but I still can't see this being the meat and potatoes console for any serious action gamer. 18-34 year old males want Halo 3, GTA4, MGS4, EA Sports with the latest graphics, Gran Turismo, Forza, etc... and this is still the bulk of the market right now.
We have already heard that Super Smash Bros: Brawl, which is a Wii game, will still be built around the conventional controller. It's the same issue really. The game wouldn't feasibly work with the Wiimote.Wii's controller wouldn't be clunky with any of the games you just mentioned AFAICS.. If you want a good example of a genre of game that would likely be extremely hard to pull off well on Wii's controller then look no further then Football (International not North American). IMO this is one of the few kinds of game genre's were I may need another system to get my fix.
Yep, and why should devs start to max it out now? it's crystal clear that they are not aiming at having better graphics. There's plenty of room to improve on on Wii, as dev kits get more accurate to Wii hardware. Also, let me remind you that GC wasn't exactly "maxed-out".

You may yet get all those classic genres on the Wii, you'll probably just need to get an extra controller.
(the Wii has four ports for the same old Gamecube controllers)

Let put it this way: If I would develop a Wii title I would not stop sleeping at night to think how to achieve a better graphics. Yes, I would work to have a nice looking game but graphics would be one of my last worries. People will not but it for the fantastic graphics, it has to be ok, not amazing. That's why only few devs will actually push it for real. It already happened with the Gamecube and this tendency is going to be even stronger now.no no, what you can say is that they're not aiming at the ps3 level of graphics, which does not mean they are not aiming for better graphics compared to the previous gen : )
What? I was not talking about the launch, I was talking about its entire lifetime. Games graphic will improve over timeHow do you expect them to max out at launch? Has ANY console ever have?
Honestly, I think you're having unrealistic expectations here...

Yes, it would be, too bad I was addressing another issue. Nevermind..Then it would be foolish to expect "maxed-out visuals" with the current titles shown.

I'm rather miffed about that myself, it would make perfect sense to have DVD playback in Wii. The unit is tiny, looks like a piece of slick hifi gear, has a full-size dual layer DVDROM drive, and THE CONTROLLER IS A WIRELESS REMOTE... It's like, DUH!It doesn't even play DVD's?
I myself hope Nintendo releases a range of standalone wireless classic controllers, they could make a fortune selling those old NES and SNES pads updated with bluetooth...You may yet get all those classic genres on the Wii, you'll probably just need to get an extra controller.
