does anybody have experience with hooking up a widescreen tft screen (pc monitor)with a xbox360 trough vga ?

are these the same widescreen spec as a lcd tv ?
20" screens are realy getin cheap, i'm considering buying one for the bedroom but i'm concerned about the image quality if it isnt proper 16:9
Most of the screens i saw are an odd resolution like 1450x1050 or something like that ...

I had mine hooked up to a Dell 2405 for a few weeks via VGA and it looked great. The native res of that panel was 1920x1200 which is 16:10 so i set the 360 to 1080i and set the panel itself to 1:1 mapping. This resulted in 60 pixels on the top and botton of black but it wasnt distracting at all.

You can also hook up the 360 to this montior via component, which i tried, and didnt notice a difference in quality.

i heard nice things about that panel. shame it still is a bit too expensive for my budget..
i'm planning to buy something in the 250€ range

Why not wait longer and save more, so you can get the screen you REALLY want? :)

As for your question, most PC widescreen monitors are 16:9 aspect for some reason so you'll either get a slight stretch of the screen or else small horizontal black bars with the 360. I choose to stretch on my monitor, frankly I can't notice a damn thing from a negative perspective.

well, its a bit political you know..
i can easly afford a 32inch sony panel.. thats not the point but i dont want my wife
freaking out again when i buy stuff just for my own enterntainment wich costs 1000+ euro. So i'm keeping lowprofile at the moment (dont ask , i'v spent way to much money last few months :p )

It looks excellent. I had mine hooked up to a 20inch 16x9 $250 LCD monitor through VGA while I was waiting on my 1080p set. I actually took some pics, though they aren't that clear, check out my dead rising thread ;)
