We need a mod

We definitely need a moderator in this forum as things are getting a bit out of hand lately. Am I the only one who thinks the console forum needs a mod or do other people notice it's getting a little edgy lately?

one particular ban would do much good to this board.

you know the pre-teen who keeps creating threads and posts that doesn't belong here..

What an odd thing to say considering that John Reynold's mod thread is still stickied. But no... you're not the only one.

What happened anyway? Did noone PM him?

I couldn't possibly agree more with Magnum PI... there are member(s) that aren't mature enough to post here - warnings don't seem to hold, so perhaps banning may be the only way.

It is hard to ban someone completely.. especially so if they are on a dialup connection.

I hope there is an ignore option in the next forum update.. that would work more effectively in the long term IMO.

Here's a solution, contact the ISP. The ISP will cut him off he he continues to come back and harass.

And your complaint is that he is an XBOX fan and trolls on anything anti-XBOX and makes feceatious points about the texturing capabilities of the PS2?

LOL... yeah lets call his ISP up for that.

You don't get it.

If you ban him from the website via IPban, and he continues to come back. You CAN contact the ISP and they will do something about it.

Yes, in the mean time also inform my ISP to ban me from every other forums, no BAN ME FoRM dA neT! I say things others dont like to hear, i aM soooo banned!

Geez, some of you are taking things too seriously.

No point in banning him.....he is entitled to have his opinions however radical they may be.....I think we can only wait till 2005.... ;)...then may be he will ve a change of heart....

There's no point of going off on the deep end at every little post that someone makes. It's not the banning part that is a problem, it's the lack of enforcement of the rules that are set up for the entire B3D forum.

cybamerc, I would have replied to the thread John Reynolds posted but it's been locked from what I can tell.

Nobody wants to ban chap/chapterone/chaphack for his opinion. My problem is how he is expressing his opinion. Immature, unreasonable, biased, unrespectful, unfounded ... just my 0.02$

To be honest I don't think any of his posts have been 'unrespectful' to any other member. I don't remember chap ever throwing out personal insults to anyone. Of course I could be proven wrong there but overall chap has been pretty respectful to other members even if his opinions are sometimes unfounded and unreasonable.

I do believe it is 'unrespectful' to make threads about banning a member and having a poll whether they should be banned. I think it is 'unrespectful' to make another thread about a member or mention another member in this kind of light when he is not there. It is a bit like talking behind someone's back. Some of the criticism at chap may be justified but the means do not justify the end, IMHO.

chap is willing to learn and claims to have toned down. He seems to be maturing as well. I don't think he is a lost cause and at times has posted good threads and has made a positive contribution to some threads. How would you like it if every other week there is a thread about you and how you should be banned or constrained? I personally would flip and tell you where to stick your opinion  All these attacks on the lad could be having a detrimental affect on him so I ask respectfully that since he hasn't been banned by the authorities at Beyond3D we should at least be polite to him and hold our tongues. I mean he does the same as far as I am concerned. I hope you see my point that chap is not shouting obscenities at other members etc like some other members have done and will probably continue to do so.

It's not black and white and these attacks on chap out in the public need to stop - he wants to mature and learn how to debate so we can also be tolerant of his views and opinions even if they are at times (and not all the time from what I can make out) silly.

Just my tuppence worth.

Contacting ISPs about forum "abusers" often doesn't work. When I was a mod at Futuremark (then MadOnion), we had particular problems with a regular user - he'd end up getting banned very quickly but would always return under a new account. Finally, it came round to my turn to ban him...cue several new accounts, dozens of abusive PMs and emails, accounts set up using Hotmail accounts made in my own personal name and so on.

Despite repeated contact with the ISP ("we are currently investigating your complaints" they would say), nothing ever came of it. Eventually, it all passed over but I'd had enough and stopped moderating. Half the time, though, the abusive poster isn't the problem - it's the replies that fan the flames that can often cause more grief.

No Tahir, as long as he keeps it up these attactks won't stop, he's been told many MANY times to wise up and so far he did not, there's even been a poll and more than 60% of the members voted in favor of banning him. This forum used to be one rare place where even fanboys discussed console gaming in a calm and fairly rational manner, are you surprised people are pissed off at his jingoistic rabid fanboism??? o_O

I'm meant respectful towards platforms and the achievements on those platforms. Respectful towards threads and their topic, etc etc
