Vista 64, Nero, DVD-DL recording and memory...

I was using Vista64 so far without any major issues.

Memory used was at 900Mb the most.

Then I decided to burn an 8Gb image file to an DL dvd using Nero.

I had many Firefox sessions open, playing Foobar and that's it.

Suddenly memory usage rose to 1.8Gb and climbing.

My system has only 2Gb of ram.

Swap file is set to Custom Size = 4096Mb.

The system began crawling. I closed everything except obviously Nero.

What is happening to my system?

note: needless to say that my Vista64 is patched to the butt...............

Sounds like NERO doesn't work too well burning DVD-DL's :(

For research purposes, hit the Resource Monitor and see what's soaking up that ram.

Doesnt Vista use free memory for file-caching? I take it used up everything for this purpose.

But it shouldnt slow down if done right (ie free up memory again if processes need it it).

The same wouldn't happen under WinXP though.......... :|
The sad part is, that doesn't necessarily mean either A: XP was doing it "right" or B: that it still isn't NERO's fault.

Vista is different for a reason after all :p

No matter what, I'm sticking with Vista64. It is the future, resistance is futile, prepare to be assimilated. :)
