whoa, I LIKE the first & third shots. really colorful and nice. I think I've seen the second one however, if not something very similar.

Think about a Grand Theft Auto with graphics like the first shot :)
Then I only need decent AI before I decide to buy a game like that ;)
Would it look like that on PS3? :/

Anyways, it would be great if square had a FFVII remake as a launch title for PS3 -> It shouldn't be that hard to surpass the CG from the original with in-game graphics :)

a next generation GTA game will look much better than that shot, just like current GTA games look MUCH better than GT2 for Ps1...

the FFVII FMV has been surpassed already in my opinion....

i think we can expect FF10 fmv quality graphics in the next generation, or something approximately close to it...

Compare FFVII CG with FFX in-game graphics
I think that the first one still looks better :/ (some scenes more then other)

yeah well i guess it all comes down to taste really....
still the GTA part is pretty realistic in my opinion....
and the real time FF10 character models, and some of the environments look miles better than the prerendered ones in ff7... especially the characters

The game is undeniably one of.. if not the most impressive looking racing game I've ever seen.

Still, these shots make it seem more realistic than it probably is since they're a little grainy.

These scans are misleading though. They're blurry. If you looked at the sharper images, the imperfections appear. Such as the big ugly polygons in the canyon track (compare the scans to the ones available on Gamespot).

Exactly my point. With the grainy shots, you can't really tell how good (or bad) the product looks.

I gotta say that some of those still shots are damned near photo-realistic though.

In motion it's a shimmery mess though.
Did you saw GT4 in motion? To my best knowlegde, the only build shown so far was the E3 version. Anyone who was able to check out GT4 at E3, please comment.

I saw E3 footage of GT4 on X Play and I gotta agree, shimmering is very nasty in this game.

So what happened to those downsampled AA hires devkit shots that i saw a couple weeks ago?

Well, in GT Concept: Tokyo-Geneva the 'shimmering' was not 'very nasty' at all, so I don't see how they could go backwards from that.
If the image quality is on the same level as in GT Concept, that'll be enough for me.

In GT:C for example the Tokyo city track has much better IQ than in orignal GT3, there is virtually zero shimmering. In tracks where there is more contrast, like Autumn ring, there is naturally more shimmering, but not so much that one could say it is any more than in most of other high-contrast games, regardless of the platform (for example xbox Midtown Madness has shimmering too, it just seem to be impossible to avoid with low console resolutions. Even AA can not eliminate it completely)

my boss and two collegues went back from E3 saying GT4 is so clean , it doesn't look like a ps2 game...

also ,a close friend mole believed ps1 display was probably 16x AA-ed all the time
