Ubisoft today announced that it is in development with versions of Far Cry, Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII, Monster 4x4 World Circuit and Open Season for Wii. In addition, the studio is bringing an all-new racer called GT Pro Series to the system.

The publisher also said that it has "many more titles in development" for Wii.

So I can still hope with AssassinsCreed and BIA3 for Wii.

Interview: Ubisoft on Wii Launch Games

So who still think that Nintendo will not have suport from third partys.

Ubisoft is going to become for Wii what everyone was expecting Capcom to be for Gamecube if they come through. And Ubi's the best possible studio to get this kind of support from. Michael Ancel's games are a perfect fit for your average Mario/Zelda fan, while they're also industry leaders in action games targeted at late teens and twentysomethings.

If they're bringing Far Cry to Wii, that's an unqualified good sign. Unfortunately, it sounds like GT Pro will be a port of GT Cube, which got universally bad reviews. Ubisoft has a pretty bad track record when it comes to racing games anyway.

The Wii is getting 4 Xbox ports. (Yes, I said XBOX ports, not 360 ports)

And at least 2 of those games sucked horribly. That's not exactly the type of 3rd party developer support I would be proud of.

Ubisoft aren't going to just port XBox games to Wii Powderkeg...

regardless of the stellar-ness, or lack thereof, of some of the announced games, the message is more than clear - ubisoft have faith in the platform. to the extent that thay have an exclusive high-profile title in addition to the regular ordeal.

lets see now if EA would up the ante. when was their joined conferenced with ninty scheduled for?

ps: teasy, did you miss the sign 'don't feed the trolls'?

So if games that weren't good or ported from other systems don't count, I guess Xbox 360 didn't launch with any third party support...or first party support. ;)

Those two that sucked could be a different experience with the wii-mote

No, I'm sure they will completely rewrite the game to maximize the Wii's potential.

Just like they did with the 360 ports of the same games.

If you are playing the controller instead of playing the game, maybe. But these games didn't get crappy reviews because of the controller.

Did I say that?

I said 4 crappy Xbox ports wasn't my idea of good 3rd party support. Last time I checked the 360 got several 3rd party games, and even 1 or 2 first party games that were both good, and not ported from a previous-gen console. PC maybe, but not previous-gen consoles.

I mean, if you want to brag about great Wii support from Ubisoft, start mentioning games like Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon or Assassin's Creed. Not Monster 4x4 World Circuit.

thanks, hupfinsgack.
it'll be curious to see if EA too will join their brethren sega and ubisoft in the 'doh, we saw it coming and we were ready right from the start' line : )

The business strategy actually seems to work. It seems like Ubisoft is really trying. Far Cry would be really nice as a launch game.

Powderkeg, it's quite clear that being released on a Nintendo console isn't your idea of good 3rd-party support. If a Nintendo doesn't get a cross-platform game, you say the machine has crappy 3rd-party support because it's not getting cross-platform titles. If it gets a bad cross-platform game, you say its support sucks because the game wasn't good. If it gets a good cross-platform game, you say its support sucks because the game's not exclusive. If it has an exclusive slated, you proclaim that the game won't be nearly as good as whatever Xbox 360 game, therefore support sucks. If the game obviously looks good, you say that support sucks because there aren't enough 3rd party games, which you will justify by discarding all cross-platform and mediocre titles that you include on your "Reasons X360's Support is Awesome" list.

Ubisoft has 7 titles slated for the Wii launch window. Three of them are ground-up Wii titles, and one of them is cross-platform from one of their best-loved franchises (Far Cry). Three are shovelware, but so what? That is still approximately three more titles than Xbox 360 got from Ubi in its first 6 months after launch, only one of which was really a ground-up 360 title.

Only in Powderkegland can a Nintendo console get more support from a 3rd party developer than a Microsoft console and still be declared as having inferior support from that very same developer.

Oh, and since Splinter Cell 4 is coming to the dead Gamecube, I doubt it's the last time we'll see Sam Fisher on a Nintendo console.

Did you miss those parts?

The publisher also said that it has "many more titles in development" for Wii.

First, Far Cry Wii will include elements from Far Cry Instincts Evolution, in addition to a fresh storyline, new maps, characters and equipment.

Those doesnt not seems like "do the less we can so we can release it on the platform" kind of port we are used to see.

BTW They already said that SC games will come to the Wii, sonner or later (what a suprisse), in a gamasutra interviewn.

Also there is the case that a Assassins like game cant be ported (or easly ported) to the Wii because lack of power

Make that three launch titles developed especially for Wii. The new Far Cry merely contains "elements" of the latest Xbox game, probably some of the animal mechanics and whatnot. However it will have new maps, storyline, weapons, and characters will be new. That doesn't sound like a "port" to me. They also said GT Pro is "inspired by" GT Cube, so maybe it's not simply going to be a port. Not that I expect Ubisoft to develop a non-crappy racing game.

I love my DS Lite, can't wait to buy a Wii, but Nintendo is going to get smacked down by MS this holiday if MS reveals some of their secret 2007 games.

I want to see Mario 128 :( NSMB is so fun...Galaxy is going to be good but just another Sunshine.
