Details are scarce, but here's what we know so far: Ivy, Mitsurugi and Nightmare are all confirmed returns, new and unannounced characters will make their debut, and the game features "realistic environments, interactive stages, enhanced AI, and a new battle system," according to Namco Bandai. A lot more will be revealed in EGM's upcoming Soulcalibur IV cover story.

<laughs> Good lord, man, what timing! :p

I'll let some mod combine mine with yours, I guess. You have better title.

Or delete it, rather. You have the teaser linked, too. Still not sure why old hats can't delete accidental/pointless posts... (Unless I'm just missing it?)

I hear those are going to be her primary weapons this time around.

...without losing any of the range of her whip-sword.

Nice skin. Target render?

I missed SCIII because I only had Xbox. Glad to see this coming to the 360. :)

I think with the Namco of late, it's going to save me loads of disappointment to set my expectations low. The company just hasn't been the same since they were bought by Bandai (some say merged, but just look at the logo to see who wears the pants...). It's as if their star programmers left, which often happens with corporate shenanigans, leaving Namco IP in the hands of Bandai development studios. *shudder* Does anyone close to the Japanese industry have any juicy gossip about what happened?

Too bad, as SCIII was rather jawsome. There was an abusable bug or two in it, and the "build your own character" could get a bit silly/unbalanced, but everyone looked better, moved better, loaded better, and there was plenty more to do if you wanted.

The biggest violation, IMHO, was removing the 8-player team matches. I don't really know why they did that. (I'd have certainly made a "more loading time" trade-off to still have it exist.)

The Skies team is perfectly fine, the only Namco team to come to the understanding that they are in a new generation.

As far as I know things are as they always were with Bandai getting outside companies to do the development, while Namco does nearly everything in house. I'm sure some people left in the merger, but for all I've heard most are still there. I think what you're seeing with a drop in quality has more to do with not being able to make a smooth generational transition, but take a look at Ace Combat 6, that looks pretty damn good.
