Poll results so far paint a pretty clear picture: Lots of Sony fans that Live in EU are on this site and voting in this poll (nearly half).

Interesting idea though Shifty of polling by region to see if certain regions appreciate certain things more than others and on a more nuetral site I think these types of polls could garner really interesting results.

Wow. I think you are making some unsafe assumptions here. This gen has already surprised me enough that I'm not going to take for granted my ability to predict overall consumer behavior.

What is not so clear is why you're so hasty to assume that all those who voted positively in that region are Sony fans. From there you can see where your clear picture becomes not so clear.

Well, results are in, and to date (16/03/07) we have :

16% of Europeans who expressed an interest disliked LBP
23.5% of Americans who expressed an interest disliked LBP

Asia and Rest-of-World weren't presented in numbers that even a rough idea of statistical value can be attributed to!

There is an apparent small regional difference, but it's too small to attribute to actual locational differences. The difference between 16% and 23.5% could be statistical noise due to low sampling, or a skewed set of contributors. As a poll, it doesn't prove an Atlantic divide in tastes regards this game. If there is a divide, it's only of a small influence (+/- 6%).

I'll just type up my thesis, padding it out with 10,000 words of vapid academia, and get my sociology PhD... :D

If you really want to make this a socialogical study, compare the overall positive reaction as indicated by the games actual sales to the positive reaction in this forum to determine how mainstream the opinions of our forum members are. I am damn curious to see how well this game is received once it's out in the wild. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see it be a wild success there too, mind you, but if not, it definately would seem to indicate that opinions here are a bit skewed.

I'm quite impressed by the visual and gameplay on that clip. BUT at the same time I'm very concerned about the lasting appeal of the game. I'm not going to spend time from random people from the net trying to complete anything and I most likely won't have that many friends who'd have the game to get to play with friends. And how much is there going to be premade content for it or are they relying on user generated content?

The concept and looks are GREAT but how will it turn out to be?

I think we all know the opinions on this forum are not represented of the norm. Little Britain the computer game outsold Okami. who here would rate that a better game? Heck, even the mainstream gaming press doesn't represent the masses!

You all play on the one console. Like MarioKart of old. Get to gether and play through whatever content ships, or build your own thing, or act out your own movies (need some similarly enthusiastic mates for that one!), or come up with some simple game. Perhaps a volleyball game with machinery added as you go? Or volleyball on jetpacks? One teammate on jetpacks, one on the ground, with swinging arms to get in the way?

Dunno about anyone else, but in my case in that situation I don't vote.

Clicking the vote button is fun, Shifty.
At least, I think so. Certainly more fun than note voting at all. It's only a small speck of fun, but it takes very little effort to get it. Like uh.... flicking up the lever on the toaster so your pop tarts jump out of it.

I simply settled for unimpressed because for right now the graphics are something I'm worried are too much of a tech demo (3D sidescroller) and the gameplay really hasn't been shown enough to judge it but what WOULD impress me is the user-created content taking off, filtering actually working and giving you a steady stream of fun levels, the online co-op platformer gameplay working well. Of course, these are all things that we would have to wait several months after release to see if they work. This isn't something I can see as a major system-seller but I do respect the ambition behind trying to involve the community with the game.
