A spin-off idea. Response to LBP is quite polarized in intensity. Some love it; some don't see what the fuss is about. I'm curious to see if regional variation is an influencing factor on the appreciation. Is Europe more receptive to the game, indicative of the cultural differences? Or is interest purely personal with an equal distribution of likers and non-likers regardless of territory?

You are talking about the entire concept and product, correct? Above and beyond what was shown or any specific aspect.

To get really really deep you should have asked age, gender, household income,... and what console people own.

I've had to vote that i'm wowed and i'm European, but i must be the exception to the rule because although i thought it looked interesting and had a great look to it, it's not really something i'm that interested in. I can appreciate it, but i don't necessarily want it.

I do think that Europe will like this sort of thing quite a bit, for the style as much as anything else. Sorry I can't be any more concise than that, but it's just a gut feeling I have. Not living elsewhere, i don't think i'm qualified to say whether I think other regions will like it or not.

I am extremely wowed, largely from the social aspects. If it works it'll open up a new type of gaming (kind of like FPS map-making but for console users), but if it fails it'll be remembered as being something entirely new.

I don't understand why people think it looks so fantastic, though.

Originally I was just going to ask about graphics, but at the last minute decided to change to the whole experience as shown so far. Maybe I should have stayed more focussed?

And uyou need more poll options! I'm just interested to see if there is a regional divide. This ties in with ideas of what companies need to do to attract the European market. Is LBP a test-case of an IP that has very different regional appeal?

I'm somewhat wowed when thinking about myself playing the game. I'm more wowed thinking of all the possibilities and overall importance of this title to other people than me. Imo this game has lot's of potential to become a very important title, and it sure is pretty

It is definitely impressive in many aspects, it is like a game editor that is accesible to anyone with huge potential and therefore voted the wowed and european thing.

I can see this one though being maybe an industry defining game rather than a blockbuster game. Sure mods and stuff are popular but that i mostly in the PC space and I think that the console crowed in large is more intersted in playing games rather than creating them. Then there are som many thing I don't know about it. How do you share the stuff you create, will the have a webpage where you can download the stuff people make or how does it work?...

You're not alone with that - I could never play such a game either, I'd break my controller apart after the third failed jump...

I think you need to add some more choices. Some people may be indifferent to it rather than specifically wowed or unimpressed.

Me? I'm extremely wowed by it and I'm in Europe.

This video shows how the sharing aspect is going to work: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ymBSUxxsl-E

I didn't think the response had been that polarised at all, the vast majority of the reaction I've seen has been very positive indeed. I didn't see a variation along regional lines either..the game was the talk of GDC, a predominantly North American audience.

Personally I thought it is kind of a mixed bag. I like the graphics because it's pretty, nice texturing, shading, lighting etc. looks CGI-ish. The gameplay however isn't too impressive to me because it seems to just be puzzle solving nothing more, a simple sidescroller, fairly shallow. It looks fun but I'm not really interested in building game levels myself. I'm from NA btw.

There seems to be a lot more Europeans on this forum than I thought. Interesting.

Anyways, north american here, and yes I was "wowed". :)
Not so much at the trailer they released but the actual keynote presentation.

I would have thought it meant you're impressed, or you're not- (i.e., you're unimpressed) - though the English language can be ambiguous at the best of times :p

Wow, this forum is almost exclusively European it appears..

I think there are more of us than you think, but it's just the time of day i imagine, it's still some awful hour in the morning in the US, where most other members are from.

I'm not quite sure how to answer. I'm technically and artistically wowed, but the gameplay looks about as interesting as a tech demo to me.

Edit:

After looking at other people's comments, I voted that I was wowed.

I don't think it's at all polarised to be honest.

I don't think I've heard a "neutral" saying they didn't like it, the only ones against it are the people I would've expected from their posting history.
