Has anyone played it? IIRC it was a PS2 launch game and got some good reviews. Is it fun?

played Sky Odyssey a little

I was very impressed with the gameplay, but the graphics were quite horrible for a first-gen PS2 title. As you may have heard, it's a bit of a flight simulation that involves a variety of challenges where you have to negotiate particular wind conditions and sometimes moving targets. I seem to remember it flickering some at 60fps.

One of the best but sadly isnt on anyones radar/was.
Played that game over 100+ hours, almost 200 i think.

edit. the graphics are rough but the planes look good and you can change the most, customize engine-wings-, everything to suit your needs depending what you need for certain missions. Its a real adventure(magical) and you can unlock lots and the rewards feels great! A must buy, dont hesitate!

An inspired little flight sim, and a bit of a lost gem I think. The graphics probably havent aged well (ok they look horrible by today's standards) but like overclocked noted it has a real sense of adventure about it, and almost a subtle sense of mystery as well. I thought it captured the sensation of flight really really well.

And the soundtrack is AMAZING. That might be the biggest shame it wasnt more popular, because its one of the best written for a videogame you'll ever hear. Its by Ko' Ohtani, the same composer who did the brilliant work on Shadow of the Colossus to give you an idea.

Did you play through all the diiferent "endings" aswell(?), i think there were three to the final mission. Unlocked any goodies like the F117 or S262? And as you say both music and the "felling" of mystery is wonderful, mystery is actually a better description then magical i think.

Too Deepak its not an "easy" game in that sense like rest of shitty sims but for me one of the most rewarding times on my little favorite oldem PS2!

I saw this yesterday going 2nd hand in my local GAME store.

The graphics are workmanlike, but it does run at 60fps.

It is a very relaxed play on a Sunday type of game. I played it quite alot when it first came out. Makes you realise how long the PS2 has been around.

Like Fantavision and FlipNic this is one of Sony's 1st Party titles that really adds to the diversity of the PS3 back catelogue.

One french magazine I used to read back in the day said it was a non-event, so I passed.
How wrong I was. I read a thread on a game forum a year or so ago saying the game was excellent and underappreciated due to to its crappy graphics.

So, when I saw it at €7 used at a local gamestore, as I was grabbing some new games, I thought to myself: let's give it a try.

And contrary to most of the game people called underatted, this one was actually quite fun. Not €60 fun, I agree, but definitely €30 fun, let alone the 7 euros I payed for it.

I traded it away for a couple of years ago but saw it preowned at 7 euros and tought i would pick it up again just for fun, probably will.
If it was one game that i wanted a follow up for it was this one, a shame really on such a good game.
Hope they do another one at the PS3.

Wow, I didnt even know there were multiple endings. :) After I got past the final mission I gave it to a friend only to never see it again (I think he traded it in or something). Im regretting that now as Ive always wanted to give it another shot, if just for hearing that soundtrack again.

You're right, definitely not an easy game. Some missions required a lot of precision and kicked my butt pretty good. But it had a great pace between good challenge and nice relaxing gameplay. It'd be awesome to see it reinvented on the PS3. I bet they had some ideas held back by the hardware at the time.

Well there was three different "paths" to the last one. So you never unlocked any goodies then either!? That was a blast but quite timeconsuming...
As by todays standards the gfx is atleast rough but with an new engine even on PS2 i belive it could look very well, with the progress we have seen with the machine under the years.
