Sim City DS

The original Sim is set for DS release through Electronic Arts, and the latest issue of Famitsu is home to first details.

Sim City DS is based on the PC Sim City 3000. This isn't just a port, though, as the game features full stylus-based controls, mini games and a new adviser character who helps you out when designing your city.

The DS title includes three main modes of play: Build a New City, Save the City and Sister City. In Build a New City, you start a city from scratch. Save the City mode puts you in a city located somewhere in Japan and has you clear missions involving fixing traffic and other problems. The Sisters City mode lets you chat with other players and trade "landmarks."

It seems like the DS is getting a few adaptions of classic mouse PC games. Hopefully, Strategy Fist finally manages to finish the promised Jagged Alliance DS as well. Sim City and JA are among my most beloved franchises...

Fallout on the DS would be divine. Zoomed-out overview and map (when outside cities or ruins) on the top screen, full-size graphics for targetting, movement and interaction on the lower... Awesome.

"Save the city"... HM. When it said it would be located in japan, I was certain it would involve a 100m tall radioactive monster of some sort, haha.

Sim City DS sounds like a great idea IMO. I might even buy it actually.

More building coming up!

Bluebyte is working on with The Settlers 2: Veni Vici Vidi -port (read: remake and they are calling it simply as The Settlers.) to DS. screenshots so far look so good that I might be preordering this game. :) First Pre-Order game for me since Need For Speed 5: Porsche Unleashed in spring 2000.

as off topic: anyone noticed the Drastical move Ubisoft / Bluebyte has done since pretty badly flopped The Settlers: Heritage of Kings? with that game old fans were complaining it being about AoE clone and new, hoped AoE fans never found it because The Settlers included in the name. Now Ubi/BlueByte is releasing not just one re-spin, but instead of two of old games. both based on same original game, but PC version gets Settlers: HoK GFX engine and DS is completely new platform. (also 3rd platform that S2: Veni Vici Vidi is released. previously there's PC/DOS (1996) and MAC (1997) versions.)

AFAIK the original UFO/X-Com creator is working on another, very similar in gameplay, game for the DS - turn-based combat against aliens.

Update: Thanks Hupfingsack, Rebelstar's the name.
