SED, one of the most promising display technologies IMHO for Microsofts proclaimed "HD Era", has gotten stung with a patent suit. Toshiba is/was planning on using SED as the flagship display technology for "CELL" based HDTV's from what I understand.
Or to put it another way, if you wanted the most advanced display technology in the world around the time the Playstation 3 arrives and to have it "CELL" based, you would want a Toshiba SED TV. This might slow down deployment and probably drive up the cost when they finally do arrive. To me this is dissapointing news to hear.

According to Nano-Proprietary, the company is also asserting that a joint venture formed by Canon and Toshiba to produce the SED display screens -- SED Inc. -- is not a licensed subsidiary under the 1999 agreement and that Canon is improperly transferring its license rights under Nano-Proprietary’s patents to the joint venture and Toshiba.
